MMR still sucks

Pssssttt! I can still post here! You cannot silence me :D

Now where was I?....oh yeah.

MMR sucks....no actually the entire Ranking system sucks. To get a string of bad luck resulting in your MMR getting pounded into dust makes it a nightmare to make any sort of meaningful climb.

You won? Here have less LP than would fill a Biro pen! You lost? Here get ALL of your LP Noxian Guillotined!

For real? Why is MMR, the most important rating when it comes to the Ranked system HIDDEN!? That seems mighty counter-intuitive!

Can we not have my damn thread removed this time? THERE! I moved it to the supposed correct sub-section. You happy now moderators? There really should be a section about the system outside of gameplay and balance.

I do think its dumb that its hidden, but its not like it does any good to see it though.

MMR is fine. Losing a bunch makes it harder to climb, I don't see anything wrong with that. Win more than 50% your moving up. Lose more than 50% and you are going down.

It would certainly help if it were visible. Riot is always banging on about "clarity" and other such buzzwords. Well you know what would improve clarity? Making MMR visible. If you ask me it can only help.

Help what though? I do wish I could see it but what practical use does that information have?

Help give people an idea of where they actually are in their skill standing. LP and League/Division is largely superficial since MMR is the larger factor in determining climb or drop rate and who you'er matched with. There certainly won't be anything at loss from making it visible.

LP is kinda superficial in some ways, especially since there are so many protections from being demoted, but as more of an average it tells you more than did you just do well recently. the same time you can judge where your MMR is in relation to your rank by looking at your LP gains.

MMR at any one point in time doesn't really paint a complete picture, but people look at it like it does. A small streak can easily put your MMR a whole division or more away from your norm. But at the end of that day your MMR is going to show that number that isn't your normal level of play.

Regardless there is still no reason why such an important statistic should be arbitrarily hidden away from players. What if they hid your LP? Didn't tell you how much you just won or lost? People would be bloody clueless.

If a Red wants to shine some light on this subject then they can feel free to. But until then I don't see any logical reason why MMR has to be hidden.

I'm aware you can go to places like op.gg to find out but something in client would be nice and help paint the broader picture ALONGSIDE your Division/League and LP.

I think its hidden most likely because its a distraction from what they want to be the important rank, your league rank.

LP is kinda more important to be visible since it shows your progress towards promotions/demotions. You can determine everything useful about your MMR by your LP gains. If you win more than you lose your MMR is fine and you are going up. If you lose more than you win, you have been doing poorly and are going down. Knowing the specific number doesn't change anything.

Maybe so. But it seems we've reached an impasse and aren't going to convince each other otherwise.
