Malzahar requires no skill...

...said a Katarina to me. Im not quite sure what made him think Malzahar requires no skill but im assuming im just too good.

I think it takes considerable skill to land those Q's on a champ as mobile as Katarina. I think it takes considerable skill to farm with your E just enough to keep your mana up, but not push your lane (he is so easy to gank). Sure his Ult is a suppress but Katarina's ult is way stronger and more annoying and can hit multiple targets...

I think they didnt know how the Q is a skillshot with a delay, making it difficult to land in the heat of battle. Malz's ult does surprisingly little damage just by itself, meaning you need to hit them with a Q (specially someone like Kat) then W and R, hopefully you got your E in there at some point. The only thing Kat needs to do is hit E. Im not saying Kat requires no skill, im saying Malz does require some skill beyond hitting R.

I took it somewhat as a compliment though, apparently im so good with Top Malz, i make it seem effortless and that no skill is required.

Also Voidlings... people tend to underestimate the voidlings... never underestimate the voidlings... At level 5 Malz can solo dragon with his voidlings... Voidlings will wreck a turret faster then you can blink... I want Snow Day Malzahar...

You will be surprised how many champions revolves around landing difficult skill shots. Mal's Q isn't that much of a challenge since it can pass through minions.

However, the difference between the skill requirement of Mal and Kat is still worlds apart. Katarina just need fast clicking to pull of her comobs. She does not need to watch her mana, and her CDs are extremely short.

Overall, Malzahar simply counters Katarina. She is an ability dependent, melee champion - possibly the worst archetype to play against a champion with a suppression nuke and high damage melee minions.

i find it a little weird that his ult doesn't seem to do much even though it has a 1.3 ap ratio. then again, i normally don't get more than 600 ap as him because i like building him with quite a bit of hp item 3027 item 3020 item 3089 item 3116 (if they have some tanky champions item 3151 ) and the rest is situational

Yeah, Malz is pretty challenging to play. DoT can be potent, but it's not enough burst to end fights before the enemy can respond (that's the kind of thing Katarina gets!). And the delay on Q can be downright obnoxious. But Malz is a great champ nonetheless.

he doesn't require any skill to be an advantage to his teammates late game but he does take skill to be good w him

My very first game of Malz was against a Katarina and I got to be honest you're over selling that lane a little bit. Even though its was my first game and I had zero experience on him or in that match up I still won it easily.
