"it's just normals"

SorasMemories··27 votes·2,901 views

I'm so exhausted with people diddling around, feeding, or building stupid items and using the excuse "it's just normals". What is the point of playing normals (to get better of course) if nobody gives a fuck. Seriously, I need a new report reason called "it's just normals excuse".

What's wrong with people diddling around, feeding and building stupid items in normals? Isn't that what normal games are for? To try dumb shit out, goof around and have fun? Some people take this game way too seriously.

Yulen Xoshxius6 votes

I disagree with the feeding part personally, but if people want to try hard and expect that of everyone they should go to ranked... Likewise the people not trying hard should get out of ranked.

Except for the feeding part, you are correct. In a normal game, you only lose out on some ip and nothing else. If you want to try out a build, sure you can do it to bots but they die to anything so normal games are where you want to test something on actual people to see if something is viable.

Someone is bound to feed regardless if its normals or ranked. You can't prevent it. You can try to minimize how much you die but its bound to happen in the majority of the games you play. vice versa You could be feasting on the feeder you're crushing in lane but still someone in the game is feeding. If someone intentionally feeds then that's a different story all together.

Whenever I say "feeding" that's usually what I mean. Unintentional feeding pretty much just means "having a bad game," so I just call it that.

Exactly this is one of the things that is ruining this game!

Raven, 99% of the people who say "People take this game too seriously" or "It's just normals" are the people who in ranked flip shit and threaten to kill people's moms because someone is going 1/4

You got proof of those statistics?

I may be alone on this one, but I have more fun when I am winning. Of course, I don't mind losing honorably; however, there is no honor or fun or joy in losing with a score like 10 v 52. After losing game after game due to nonsense, you get exhausted with people not giving a fuck. Just yesterday, I asked a teammate (the adc) to stop wandering alone because they kept dying. Of course, this led to the whole "it's just normals" excuse and the "fuck you's" came along as well.

Honestly, to me, it sounds like you're justifying idiotic behavior. I would expect it from someone who just started playing, but I get matched with people who have won 200+ games. By now, they know better.

Also, I'm not the kind of person who flips out when my team is losing. I don't tell people to kill themselves or anything like that. I get annoyed, but I don't talk shit.

Meh, if normals isn't the place for diddling around (I'm assuming you mean, not pushing to win right away when you're in the lead), where is?

feeding,

Agreed. Feeding is NEVER okay.

or building stupid items

Depends how stupid. I've done adc janna in norms and fed (It's bad), but I was trying. I did it a couple times to see if I could make it work (I couldn't), then stopped because it was terrible. But I don't think you should be able to report me for those games. I was legitimately trying a new strat to see if it would work.

Just FYI, if you agree and want this to be seen, you'll accomplish that better with an upvote than a comment.

Though, it may be that someone else downvoted me too, in which case just ignore me :P

i did it to show i agree with him

Hyrum Graff4 votes

I know :) Just letting you know that an upvote would do that better.

I disagree because reasons.

Stupid items would be someone building the same item twice, even with unique passives, or something that just will never work. I can respect a meta break; I have seen crazy things work. (lost to AD Malzahar jungle once) However, meta breaks are no excuse to feed.

It's just normals? It's 40minutes of 4 other people's lives. Some people rarely get time off to enjoy themselves

FarRockBF4 votes

You know, I was playing a normals game yesterday and decided to try a new champ. I did pretty bad of course but actually tried. GP all chatted "Report Teemo for feeding". I ACTUALLY TRIED.

In this case my comment of "It's just normals GP, calm down" was justified.

When people do stupid, trollish, "fun" stuff in normals and end up feeding, they say "chill out, it's just normals" when their teammates get angry that their fun has been ruined. When people do stupid, trollish, "fun" stuff in ranked and end up feeding, they say "chill out, it's just a game" when their teammates get angry that their rank has been ruined.

No matter what queue you play in, there's always some special snowflake who can't seem to fathom the idea that they aren't the only one playing the game.

This is one of the few smart people in here that think more than just about themselves. 90% of the people in this thread are so selfish its sickening.

Well here is the deal man, if you want everyone to try their hardest then go to ranked (even then though... there is always that one guy).

Feeding on purpose i disagree with, but trying different things, new champions, new meta, etc. that is all part of Normals. Sometimes those things end up with the feeding but (at least in my case) its not on purpose and (at least i do) they are still trying.

So when i build AP Fiora to see how well her W does with max CDR and DFG and you get mad at me i will say "Chill its just Normals" and if im feeding i will say "Well AP Fiora doesnt work, sorry".

Aspynn4 votes

Well I get pissed off when someone relentlessly hassles another player on their team who is doing badly and appears to be trying their best, and won't accept the "It's just normal" excuse. IT'S JUST NORMALS. If you want to be super competitive and an asshole to your underperforming team mates, at least do it in a game mode where it is at least somewhat reasonable for you to be making such a massive stink about another player having a bad game/day. Ranked is for people who want to be ranked, and who want to tryhard all the time. Normals is for people who want to play a NORMAL game of the game they love. Who are you to be telling people how to build and how to play? I guarantee you don't have the best mechanics on every champion and that you don't know the best build for every champ.

However I do understand when people are trolling and intentionally feeding, but people DO NEED to understand that this is just a game. While feeding and trolling are unacceptable, trying out a new build or a new play style for a certain champion is perfectly fine for normal. After all it is just normal. If I want to play adc janna or ap sion I sure as hell should be able to.

The game is suppose to be for fun, and normals is a place to practice weird builds and fun strategies. If you are looking for a more competitive environment then go play ranked, but normals is for fun.

Magma Lux Mid3 votes

When I say "It's just normals" it's usually when an ally is raging at another ally or an enemy is raging at his team. Seriously, it's just a game and it should not be giving you stress. If it is, then take a break for a while.

femmé3 votes

you know, it's a normal game. They don't need to try hard like you because it's not ranked, the only reason you're getting mad is because they're doing non meta things like building stupid items. A normal game isn't "TO PRACTICE MY ELITE GAMER SKILLS TO PREPARE TO CLIMB ELO AND CLAIM MY ROLE AS THE NEW TOP LANE FOR TSM" no, to them it's a game and they're trying some thing fun because...IT'S A GAME. Chances are they were just playing with friends you had a stupid idea that they wanted to do because doing something like it in ranked is a bit silly.

BeatzBoyFTW2 votes

When people say "It's just normals", I always reconsider these things my said teammates did:

  • they still pick lanes as strong meta. Eg. Katarina mid & Kayle top. But when I pick Urgot top, a teammate dodge. Wtf is up with that.

  • Jungler still ask for a leash. Assuming the part they say it's just normals, as in let's have some fun, I should be getting my fun from top lane. Stop bothering me for leash man, wtf man leave me alone. Wait, why you typed "report Satimmy95" in all-chat for...

  • Still builds according to champ meta. Why not AP Darius huh? I still see that try-hard Akali building Gunblade & Zhonyas instead of pure tank Warmog & Randuin.

  • Says "it's just normals" when I tried to play seriously. Snaps back with "wow you bronze scrub stay bronze will you" after the loss game. First, you say the game is just for fun so there's no need to be too serious into it. And now you'r scolding me for not having the skills as a professional after I followed your advice of "playing nicely"? You just went full retard dude. Never go full retard.......

Ryvaku2 votes

It is just normals. I'm gonna have fun my own way. If I wanted a serious game I would go ranked with the miserable people. >.>

Spacesuit Spiff2 votes

If you actually want to do hilarious stuff like Nunu ADC/AP Pantheon Mid/Movespeed Ezreal Top, by all means do it, just try to do it in the middle of the night because that's when everyone expects everyone in norms to be high. If you're just flat out trolling and trying to ruin the game for the rest of your team, that's inexcusable, but it's fine to be insanely ballsy because that's how you learn faster. Can I 1v2 those guys? In ranked I wouldn't risk it, but if you aren't sure in norms, always try.

For Ashe2 votes

No need to pointlessly rage over a normal game, seriously. As you said, everybody's trying to get better by playing normal game, and being toxic because someone made a few mistakes on his way to get better is just selfish. Of course, intentional trolling doesn't count.

Borbland2 votes

I personnaly love to test some "fun" builds in normals (AP Shyvana etc.)

But even like that i don't end 0/10 and flaming.

A normal game where anyone is trying some troll builds, but no one is flaming but that ends in losing is fine.

But this is nearly impossible when some people only play Zed then flames on every "non-meta" pick, doesn't even has to be a troll or fun build

FHMarshy2 votes

People need to remember this is just a game......

Normals ARE to practice and fuck around. If you want to play league seriously / competitively, you're in the wrong queue. Try ranked.

ReportThisRiven1 votes

In my first 20 or so ranked games I saw more people "trying things out" or straight up trolling than in normals! the excuse should actually be "yeah I'm going yi top, but at least it's not ranked!" Lol my face is still in my hands from that first time AD hiemerdinger mid o_O I don't condone experimenting, as long as it's in normals. Not saying I don't find it annoying when someone obviously sets up for failure in normals and feeds super hard, I mean that's 20 - 50 minutes I gotta busy my butt to get you on my back :p I feel your pain OP. But wait till you see it in ranked and you're in ya promos O_o

Dedrius2 votes

Heimer mid is a thing... and unless you are in bronze most people don't experiment in ranked.

ReportThisRiven1 votes

Sorry I fixed it, I'm on here from my phone lol autocorrect :p it was an AD Hiemer mid, and silver V he wasn't even bad at Hiemer he just did NO DAMAGE cause he had no AP and didn't AA so we were rekt in teamfights :p sorry about the misunderstanding.

Zelnorack1 votes

You're tired of people diddling around?

So... You don't want me to take Nasus, Sion, or Vi bot lane? Surprisingly it works (sometimes). I still lost some of those games because of grievous misplays on my part, but I had a ton of fun. I take GP bot as the ADC. The harass is super-real once you get a sheen which, by the way, is really easy with +5 gold every last hit with Parrrlay.

It's really fun to mess around. So long as you can do okay and not go 0/999/2 by 20 minutes, I'll defend you for trying something out. More than half the fun in this game is fooling around. That being said, I still get salty.

goldensilver091 votes

You do something not meta, there two ways it can go:

You feed and you teammates report you.

You carry and your teammates report you.

Normals are supposed to be the fun non stressing games. Some friends and I found out adc zyra works pretty well in norms and did that with support heimerdinger. We did really well and it was lots of fun not stressing about picking the best champions to win but just playing because we like this game and wanted to have some fun.

I have also had some fun with a friend playing unusual bot lanes like Xin Zhao + Leona (that level 2 though XD) Well it mostly works out though one time it totally failed but whatever i guess

It's the "carry harder" SoloQ mentality that really drives this particular frustration. I have a friend who only works 3 or 4 hours a week, and thus spends way more time playing League by himself than anyone in our group. From a mechanical standpoint, he's probably our best player, but he just can't handle coordinated team efforts. He's so used to carrying games by himself in SoloQ that he's absolutely dumbfounded when the enemy team groups up for a focused attack and gives up the second he's not utterly dominating.

Since SoloQ tends to be a clusterf*** of idiots doing whatever they please, it's not uncommon for a mechanically skilled player to have a free pass to roam around the map and crush everyone. In team games, not so much... but that doesn't stop him from whining about X champ being OP because he's no longer effortlessly stomping his lane.
