Shen's Ultimate [Discussion]

Just to clarify, this is a thread asking 'why' is Shen's ultimate a supporting ultimate and why it is that his kit isn't as OP to compensate (like they did for our new champion Rek'Sai.)

Why would I even compare Shen to Rek'Sai? Well, its simple. Both ultimates need something. Rek'Sai needs a tunnel to activate her R. Just like Yasuo needs a champion in the air to use his R. Or how Gnar needs to be in beast mode to activate his R. And the list continues with Kalista and onwards but it still leaves the question, why no compensation?

I have not been on LoL long (and please read all of this before commenting because I may have fair and good points somewhere in this), but I've heard how stupidly strong Shen once was. And that he is still considered to be very strong. But, is he as strong as Akili? Is he as strong as Kennen? Is he even as strong as Zed? No, not by a long shot. Why?

Shen's kit is very well put together. But, even I can see where it falls. His passive is the nicest thing about him. Giving a bonus attack damage and all. His Q allows for a nice sustain, but without much attack speed, it can just slow down the time for a death. His W is also the same, though its fine for ignites and such. His E finally got some love with its price reduction (and even then they are iffy) giving out some damage but to be honest, his Q deals more damage than the E.

Shen's R, is possibly the best R I've ever seen... for a support. Then I retook at the kit, and even it resembles a support kit. With the Q passive allowing allies to gain health for each hit. E to take the enemy off of the marksman's attention. Shen is literally close to second place as far as tanky supports (that are not supports) go compared to Blitzcrank.

I honestly just want to say that Shen could use a ultimate that would deal some sort of damage. He isn't classified as a support and though I like the ultimate, Shen doesn't do much. He just does a 1 hit combo and waits 10 seconds for another 1 hit combo.

Now, as far as what should his ultimate be, I would make it more towards something related to the original only different. Lets allow him to teleport, but only in a area of 1500/2000/2500. He then deals about 80/100/120 damage in a small 600 area effect and gains 125/275/425 (+ 67.5% AP) shield for 5 seconds.

Now, to me, this can be OP or it can be not as OP, but the ultimate to me that Shen has doesn't go with a Tank/Fighter and would benefit a newer support better.

What do you guys think?

Your saying nerfing Stand United's range ? That will never happen because its the skill that makes him Eye of Twilight. Just nerfing the shield and giving him bonus AD ratios instead of useless AP would enough. And need someting synergy between his skills. Ki Strike to Vorpal Blade, Ki Strike or Vorpal Blade to Shadow Dash someting like that.

Shen's Q is an over time heal. Building AS does not make him heal faster. Each additional attack on a unit marked with his Q only resets the duration.

His ult will probably never be buffed because of how strong it used to be.

I don't care if Shen is a Tank, he needs to be able to do more with the cost of his abilities.

Let's see how the recent buff to his E's energy cost helps him first. We can decide whether he needs more love or not afterwards.

they won't touch shen. he dominated season 2's top lane. sunfire waveclear split pushin. ult into teamfight was too much to handle. and then came season 3. where renekton rose to #1 top lane. and for the most part of season 4, until the maokai buff. then renekton lost fame. and master Mao takes the spotlight for MvP top lane. not even Ryze could stand up to that level of CC and sustain vs Mao.

but that concept of yours OP is pretty nice. kinda like a psuedo-TF+Pantheon ult. i wouldn't mind if they gave it the range of nocturnes ult (6,11,16). just please. Shen can make them plays too and there wouldn't be the same old Lee Sin engages for 95% or the Pro scene.

champ select starts at roughly 3:33:00 [HH:MM:SS]

i'd be happy if the ult simply shielded him too, and/or could be used on himself(without the channel time) so he can use it in combat.

Shen's biggest problem is that they narrowed his 'e' width so much that it makes it virtually impossible to multi-taunt. That's basically it. His w could probably use a bit of scaling off something he'd actually build, but his only problem is the taunt width...

If his taunt weren't so needle-thin he'd probably see play again.
