LoL, so I go and play as Bard.

And it didn't end so well.

So, we get into champ select and I insta click (not lock in) bard. Someone calls for support and I say "if you want him, I'll let you have him" but they say that I can have him. My teammates (all of them) were and all the way through, friendly. So, that person picks Sona and we have a Graves, a Kassadin in mid, and the last person who wanted top. Well, if I were going to be playing Bard, it wouldn't be a smart choice for jungle so I asked if I could just support top and they say "yeah". So we get into game, I use the new skin, and Graves is having some lag issues. So me and Galio go bot while Sona goes top. On the other team, they had a Urgot, a Sona, a Bard as well, a Shyvana top, and a (for the love of Riot Games) Sona mid.

When Graves finally came in, Kassadin asked why I wasn't top. I then left them a heal and headed top (which they used without really knowing) and they were left without one. Me and Sona had troubles top, me with a large lag, but Graves and Galio seemed fine in bot. Urgot seemed to be having issues as well. It didn't take long for (opponent) Sona to kill Kassadin, who I might remind did get a recent nerf. But, after a while, us doing adequate top and Graves and Galio doing well in bot, Sona began to roam. It was actually sad, as even though it said I'd be great at roaming, she still had the power to always 1 shot me. I want to know how and why when she didn't have but 1 item. A item 3165. I had some health items and magic resist as well so why the ability to one shot me bewildered me. The opponents weren't mean, but they didn't even need to try against us. To prove it, they went and baroned near the end. I think I lagged out during this.

I can only blame myself for most of my own faults that happened in the game (some of it goes toward the stupid lag). And part of me wondered why I didn't just ask for Galio to top while I supported. Sigh. All in all, Bard is a fair champion and I can't wait for you guys to get to play him.

Edit

Oh, right; you guys wouldn't care much for this.

His passive is not that strong. It is but its not. You have to find the scrolls and they don't pop up near you. Just in the area. And the (I'll call them) pikmen only pop up also after a good few seconds. And they only deal certain damage, so use them wisely. You can get up to 2 at level 9 and I think 3 later on.

His Q will need good positioning. The slow is nice, but the stun is better. Try and target champions near walls. Minions are good if able but they can get in the way as well.

His W is something you may want to spam. Place them everywhere, but they are not wards. They will act like beacons if walked over but they do not show the champion. Limits 3 at a time and places 1 every 10 (or more) seconds.

The E is great for travel, only not in instances where you are running away. Use the W, its actually great for running away or towards.

His R may stun an enemy but it doesn't make them targetable. And be careful not to stun yourself. It can happen.

It sounds like they might need to give him more survivability by means of either stat increases and/or maybe a few extra tools. There is also the possibility that (and I am by no means insinuating that this is what happened) you didn't have a good/optimal setup on him.

They may need to examine his base and scaling stats on his hp, armor, and magic resist...maybe.
