Shouldn't a Champion Rework count as a new champion?

You are:

  • Making a new champion with his/her new look, animations, and voice.
  • A new kit.
  • Possible new lore

These are the kinds of things you do when you make a new champion. Why are you not allowed to reduce the price of champions as if it were a new champion, since it kind of is?

Sion is a prime example. New look, complete new kit, and somewhat new lore. He even had his own teaser. Why were you not able to reduce the pricing of a champion?

Tristana was somewhat close, and Kassadin can count as well since he got a whole new kit and somewhat new look (though it was over time). Ashe got almost everything changed in her kit, except her ultimate.

You guys at Riot are about to rework (at least) three champions in a hard core fashion. Poppy is supposedly the next to get a major update. Taric is also said to be close to completion. And Gangplank is coming up REAL soon.

Can you please, if it is a Sion level rework, count it as a new champion in general and lower the price of some champion?

Only reworks they truly consider "New" champions are ones who are getting Sion level reworks, to the point where they have almost nothing to do with the old champion. And gets a massive visual update, massive kit rework.

Basically they are a new champion if they don't even come close to resembling their old self.

GP is still going to be GP, just with a better kit that still plays like current GP.

Poppy and Taric are most likely going to fall under "Sion" level rework. Since they desperately need it.

I wouldn't consider Ashe / Tristana / Kassadin's rework to be new champions, since they still kept their current look for the most part, and still have alot of pieces in their new kits that resemble their old self. (Tristanna especially, only thing the reworked was her E)

They aren't considered new champions because they are still "Champion 67" or whatever number champion they are. Reworks do not alter the number of champions in the League of Legends.
