Are violent threats getting more common?
I have been playing prior to season one. I had not had to report anyone for death threats or violent threats until this season and I have had to do it more often then I would like. For 2-3 seasons (sorry but I can't remember what season this is) I would only have to send in report for the more extreme verbal harassment but this season I have had to report at least every other month for violent/death threats (So far I have reported I think 6 players for this.) I know that 99.99% of people would never follow up on these threats and that the threats are just completely empty but it really REALLY bothers me that anyone thinks that it is okay to tell another person to go die. I had one player say something along the lines of "I know where you live. You will be dead by the end of the week." Sadly, when me and another player tried to get the other player to stop with the threads the situation just got worse. That shit is not funny. You might get a cheap disgusting laugh out of it but none of us did and I worry about the person that was being threatened. It is a fucked up thing to say and I hope that I am just unlucky and have to deal with these disgusting pricks.
I want it to be known that it takes a lot to get me to report someone. Words and language do not offend/bother me unless you are going out of your way to relentlessly attack another player. That being said, if someone tells even one single person to kill themselves or that they need to die I want Riot to punish that player with an immediate permanent ban. I hope what I have seen is not a rising trend. I hope most people don't see one of these players if any at all. I know there are players out there that would be really affected by those words. Luckily, I am not like that and can handle it but it absolutely disgusts me to think that some fucking prick's words might lead to someone killing themselves.
One last thing, to those of you who have the "grow up and get thicker skin" mentality, do not bother wasting your time because you haven't a clue what other people's lives are like. I have a friend who suffers from crippling depression. I had to drive to his house to stop him from killing himself because some fucker spent an entire league match telling him to die and saying some of the meanest things I have ever read. Having 'thick skin' doesn't mean a damn thing if you add in all the shit some people have to go through. For some people one threat like this is all they need to push them over the edge. Try shedding some of your thick skin and get a heart.
Sorry. Shit like this pisses me off and I needed to vent.
