Playing Overwatch makes me hate that this game is Free to Play.

I have played Overwatch quite a bit lately and I decided to return to league for a bit as I need to host a panel on it in the near future. First game back I am told by someone I was match with that they wish I would just die. Next game enemy wins while spamming 'ggez'. Next game I win lane and roam for kills resulting in my lane opponent being flamed pretty hard. Match I played the other day I was told to 'kys'. I have not had one match tonight that didn't have some form of rage in it. I have yet to experience rage in Overwatch.

The reason for this is no one wants to rage and get banned and have to spend $60 on the game again. I also think that Blizzard's ban system does more than just ban the account but I don't know for sure. I understand that Riot's success is because League is Free to Play but that success came at the expense of a player base of decent human beings.

This will probably be my last season with this game and the shitty community is largely to blame. People will say the usual 'welcome to online games' or 'get thicker skin' but those responses don't fix anything. They just enable the problem. Before anyone tries to play the 'thin skin' card let me explain that the rage doesn't hurt my feelings. It doesn't make me sad or angry. It just sucks the fun out of the game for me. Fun. That reason you play games. There is no fun in winning if someone is going to be flamed for losing to you. There is no fun in trying only to have someone on your team blame literally everyone but himself a loss.

This community may have a lot of good people in it but, as my mother said when I was a kid, you can clean your room to perfection but if a dog shits on the floor no one will notice how clean the room is. The raging, trolling, hate filled players are the dog shit ruining League's clean room... that was the cheesiest thing I have ever typed...

Anyway. This thread is likely to be downvoted or ignored or will somehow spark an argument completely unrelated to the topic posted here. If you made it this far, thank you for your time. Have fun in the Rift.

Completely wrong.

The reason Overwatch is not as toxic is very simple.

It's game length.

If you get into a match and you instantly know that you're going to lose, who cares, it's gonna be over in 5 minutes. In league, you could have been waiting already for upwards of 20 minutes and be IN for another hopeless slog of AT LEAST 20 more minutes. That's a total of 40 minutes completely wasted. It is a massive difference. Dota is even worse because the effect is inflated even more than league.

It is fundamentally impossible to fix this problem.

As for people not wanting their accounts banned, I mean, no? Do you remember how endemic the map hacking problem was in Starcraft? They would ban you for that, but that didn't stop cheaters and that game was 60 dollars, not 40.

No, the fact is, Overwatch is just a much more casual game from every possible angle.

Oh, also, there is INTENSE fun to be had in taunting the shit out of that fucking Kindred or Yasuo or Graves that you just kicked the shit out of in post game. There is no better feeling than to know you made a feeder out of them. Does that make me a bad person? Eh, probably. How many fucks do I give? 0 fucks.
