Playing Overwatch makes me hate that this game is Free to Play.
I have played Overwatch quite a bit lately and I decided to return to league for a bit as I need to host a panel on it in the near future. First game back I am told by someone I was match with that they wish I would just die. Next game enemy wins while spamming 'ggez'. Next game I win lane and roam for kills resulting in my lane opponent being flamed pretty hard. Match I played the other day I was told to 'kys'. I have not had one match tonight that didn't have some form of rage in it. I have yet to experience rage in Overwatch.
The reason for this is no one wants to rage and get banned and have to spend $60 on the game again. I also think that Blizzard's ban system does more than just ban the account but I don't know for sure. I understand that Riot's success is because League is Free to Play but that success came at the expense of a player base of decent human beings.
This will probably be my last season with this game and the shitty community is largely to blame. People will say the usual 'welcome to online games' or 'get thicker skin' but those responses don't fix anything. They just enable the problem. Before anyone tries to play the 'thin skin' card let me explain that the rage doesn't hurt my feelings. It doesn't make me sad or angry. It just sucks the fun out of the game for me. Fun. That reason you play games. There is no fun in winning if someone is going to be flamed for losing to you. There is no fun in trying only to have someone on your team blame literally everyone but himself a loss.
This community may have a lot of good people in it but, as my mother said when I was a kid, you can clean your room to perfection but if a dog shits on the floor no one will notice how clean the room is. The raging, trolling, hate filled players are the dog shit ruining League's clean room... that was the cheesiest thing I have ever typed...
Anyway. This thread is likely to be downvoted or ignored or will somehow spark an argument completely unrelated to the topic posted here. If you made it this far, thank you for your time. Have fun in the Rift.
