I need some serious help...

I have a friend that wants to play ranked with me but I refuse to. Why? He argues with builds/tiers/playstyles of Challengers, thinks he carries everything (1-14-3... Yeah... you carried), thinks cs isn't important, refuses to take advice, ignores calls (Don't go in that bush, the enemy is there. Walks in bush and dies), thinks kills > objectives, blames everyone for his mistakes and... I could go on. But he asks me everyday to play ranked and I am sick of telling him no. What do I do? I can't unfriend him because he is a RL friend and is a cool guy.... but not in LoL. I can't keep telling him no because we are both getting pissed. I am pissed he keeps asking, he is pissed I keep saying no. I can't just tell him that he is a terrible player because he won't believe it.

It is turning into a battle of the wills here and I am about to snap. I am to the point where I dread logging on anymore because I know he will ask and I will say no and he will ask why and I will tell him and he will sluff it off and ask again.

Nothing you can do until he opens up his eyes.

...unfriend him? Ignore him?

You tell him simply that you will play with him so long as you win, and when you lose its done. Possibly a solution could be that you have already done your placement matches, and they have not. So that will stall for some time. Use this time to get yourself as high as possible as your next wall for him to overcome. That wall of course is that you are gold/silver and he is slumming it off in bronze 4. You would risk too much to lose a game with him that it is not worth it (or insert other random similar excuse here).

This happened with a friend of mine, and I learned that he was simply a class above me playwise the hard way. I was the one that was always "hurr durr do ranked with me" and we would lose mostly because I was outclassed. My friends were generally around gold and platinum and I was in silver. So my getting run over by said gold and platinum levelled competition opened my eyes.

The truth will hurt him, so let it fly and smack him straight in the face. Just bite the bullet and if he is suck and fail, just tell him exactly that.
