My team just got trolled and I had to Bard top vs Fiora

I won lane..then we won the game

Like, legit won lane vs fiora..as Bard.

I also played this a few times in normals once vs a swain top and once vs a rengar top. I won both times as well.

I think Bard might just be a pretty good solo laner. I know a lot of people hate him and don't find him worth much but I find him enjoyable and his kit offers a lot to the team.

I was able to bait Fiora who had full hp and was chasing me who had around 5% hp into my team with my portal.

I also set up perfect wombos with amumu/kat with my ult.

I'm not gonna claim this to be OP but I do think Bard can make a pretty good solo laner..if any questions on how this worked i'd be happy to answer

What was your build/runes/masteries?

Typical support stuff. You can LoLking me since I have a rune/mastery page specifically for Bard. I thought I was going support so I didn't change them. Also for build the typical Bard build item 3110 item 3190 item 3270 item 3290 item 2045 item 3102

For the swain/rengar games I had the same rune pages but a 9/21/0 mastery page and built item 3078 item 3083 item 3260 item 3102 item 3110 item 2049

Basically what you want to do is get stun level 1 (or W if it's a bs champ like Riven) then rush to level 2 (you'll hit it first if you picked up your chimes) then harass and if they get close to you use your Q to stun them and get off free autos. Any health you lose just heal with a shrine. If you're low on mana push your lane a bit to the middle and go grab a few. Don't be afraid to set a ward or gank while doing so. Then rinse and repeat.

When I laned vs Fiora she Q'd to me then I'd stun her and get off autos with my meeps and she'd back off since I could just kite her. I got a kill on her( had ignite). After which I had a few levels in my Q so my stun lasted long enough to bully her hard to where she wouldn't try to go in on me. It's actually pretty hilarious how someone tries to hit you then you stun them. If they do get you then you can just heal up to max with a shrine or two

You play him the same reason you play any other farm lane champ (except nasus/veigar) to deny your opponent any kills what so ever and always have them available to be killed.

"There's better options like shen or malphite tho!" well, maybe I don't want to play shen or malphite I want to play Bard.

Unless someone wants to overextend and be ganked they can't kill you. Bard's sustain is just too good

You have no damage. You can't deny anything and ganking for you would suck because you sill have no damge. literally just auto attacks and a weak q. Bard is squishy so is easy to kill. He doesn't scale well with any stat so you can't just farm for late game, you deny your team actual damage/tankiness/utility.

I run tank runes/masteries on my Bard with MS quints.

People underestimate Bards damage, while it is pretty low, it can add up early on
Let me stun you with my Q and get off those "weak" AA's. I'll win the trade cause I have heals
See first sentence in this 4)He scales perfectly with cdr and ms. Your ult can change a losing game instantly..as well as a portal.
If we need damage we can get a lee sin/rek'sai/xin etc. to jungle.

Also you said you deny your team utility :/ have you played Bard yet?
