Riot, give your new players a break

Everyone can agree that League of Legends is a game that is difficult to just pick up and go if you have never played a MOBA before. I made a new account because I wanted to help a friend get into the game without throwing her into matches full of level 30s. I forgot how gated the early levels are in this game and it just makes a difficult entry experience even harder.

Riot should give all the 450 IP champs to all accounts. This will give all new players a consistent and fairly decent roster of champions to learn. Summoner spells should not be locked behind levels especially flash. Flash is one of, if not the most core summoner spell in the game so why do players not get it at level 1? Tier one runes... either delete them or give them to all accounts. They are a noob trap. The definition of a waste of IP. Disable the ability to purchase melee/ranged specific items on champions that are not ranged/melee. I cannot tell you how many adc I saw with Hydra.

Between the bots and smurfs and the ridiculous learning curve new players have to deal with I think Riot should give them a little love to help them work through it. I joined preseason one. Long before bots and smurfs and I have to say, had I had to deal with them when I started playing I do not think I would have stuck around. The new player experience is awful nowadays.

The point is not to overwhelm them with too many choices. After having said that, I'll address each of your point in detail.

Champs: There's a nice starter champ pack in the store for those that want it. It's mostly easy champs, and I think it's like, 10 bucks or something. Not too much investment.

Summoner Spells: Definitely disagree with you there. Flash was really hard for me to get used to (didn't game much on PC before I played this). Not having flash available eases newbies into the game a little bit. It's good.

Items: It's tagged "melee only" in the game. And you can totally get away with buying that stuff at low levels and still have fun (and win). They still get the stats. Again, if they want to get good later, they'll figure it out.

Runes: Okay, you're right. Tier 1 and two runes kinda suck.

Other than runes, though, I like the way it was handled for me. Sure, it was slow getting champs and stuff, but that's just how it is if you insist on playing for free. If you want a better experience, 10 or 20 bucks is not asking a lot.
