What do I max first on Jhin?
is finally out.
He's not a juggernaut, so they didn't have too much room to make him overpowered.
He has obvious strengths and weaknesses that can be exploited a fair amount of the time.
But what do we focus on him?
His 3 basic abilities in order of damage dealt are: 4.Q, 3.W, 2.E, 1.Q
Why list Q twice? If it doesn't kill anything but still manages to hit the enemy champion, it deals less damage than either the W or E. However, if it kills at least 2 units it deals more damage to the third and fourth target than either of the other abilities.
Now, the abilities in terms of their chance at damaging the enemy that you want to damage: 3.Q, 2.E, 1.W
- The Q is not guaranteed to hit the enemy champions at all, and you would need to have two near-dead units around them to make it deal more damage than the other two.
- The E can be easily avoided unless you also use your W.
- The W is the most reliable in terms of actually hitting the enemy, assuming you can land a skillshot. The point is that it'll go where you aim, unlike the others. Granted this ability might only be used to force the W to get its damage.
So the reasonable decision is between his Q and E.
- If you can land the W, the E will be more reliable and deal more damage than a kill-less bouncing Q.
- If you can set the Q up to land on the third or fourth bounce after killing at least 2 units, it will deal more damage than a W of the same rank.
Do you guys think it's down to personal preference? Risk vs. Reward?
