How is Riot AT ALL successful?

10 years ago, not even HALF the shit that Riot pulls would have them laughed out of the industry, and Beck / Merril / Ma would never be able to start another game without everyone expecting a repeat, basically preventing them from ever creating another game / company.

What changed?
