Agreed. It's offensive (and racist) to take someone's culture (religion included) and turn it into something of a joke. Even if it's meant as a respectful gesture, it doesn't come off that way, ever.

Riot may be racist, but they've never done anything obliquely and overtly racist on purpose; it's just little accidents like Lucian's ults being a driveby (and then immediately publishing a white Lucian the same day as the original Lucian) or Ekko's dialogue being stereotypical to the poor, black teenager. Nothing overtly racist on purpose like turning a religious group into a joke skin (which is what witness Illaoi would be).
