Honestly, League just sucks right now - but it's all there is.

For some stupid reason, morons go and throw money at F2P companies that couldn't care less about their game or the playerbase so long as they make money, and I've watched gaming go from this amazing industry full of new, interesting ideas and totally addicting stories / gameplay to absolute shit that I don't even look forward to anymore. I don't remember the last time I was actually excited about a game release, or the last time I was actually happy playing a video game -- actually, I do, and it was like 10 years ago.

In League, I've always complained about balance. This game has the worst balance I've seen in an online game (and I've played THOUSANDS of games), and Riot continues to preach about how much they care and how much work they put into their game... yet I don't see it at all. When I can look at champ select and instantly know which team wins hands down, and when I know which champs automatically win by virtue of being money makers... I just wonder why I bother playing this game. I enjoy the game itself, but I'm just not having much fun anymore. Knowing there's literally nothing I can do in a game because I didn't pick one of the 30 or so viable champs just doesn't feel good, and I'm tired of it.

If I had anything else to do, I'd quit. But there are no other games that would last more than a few hours, I have no friends, I can't find a job, nowhere to go, none of that. So, I'm stuck here, playing a game that died a few years ago. The game we have now isn't run by the same Riot, and isn't the same game.

I posted because I was hardcore stomping the entire game, was massively fed, yet still lost to one of Riot's poster children because he's allowed to be broken because he makes money. And Riot's white knights come to their rescue with downvotes and attempted justification for bullshit.

I would quit in a heartbeat if there was anything else enjoyable that would last for more than a couple days. But, sadly, the gimme generation made sure that all of gaming is brought down to garbage tier, and that if you're not a mentally challenged person, you can't find enjoyment in anything.

There are many things worth doing, you just need to find something that clicks with you. Based on your post it seems you might suffer from depression or something similar, you shouldn't underestimate that. LoL is not the reason why you're having personal issues. If you fixed those problems, you would probably find even LoL much more enjoyable. The game is more fun with friends for instance.

No, I meant what I said. Unless you're someone who can hardly think or function, there is no challenge or complexity in gaming anymore, and when everything is braindead, it loses a lot of its entertainment value. As far as non-gaming goes, there's still not much there; I could go read old books, but I've read thousands at this point, there isn't anything worth watching on TV anymore, most modern movies are just bad, and so on. Everything these days is built to pander to the lowest common denominator and stoners who can't think. If you're not one of them, then everything is just kind of crappy compared to how things used to be.

And I've had depression for as long as I can remember -- even when I was little I had clinical depression. But, I still found enjoyment in things and got excited for new releases and all that. I can still go back and play any of the older games and have a blast, but you can only play them so many times before you know every single detail by heart (sometimes I hate having a good memory). So, yeah, it's not depression ruining things for me, it's greedy assholes ruining things for me.

See, I would enjoy League if I was allowed to be competitive without playing one of the 30 or so champs that Riot makes money off of. Would also be enjoyable if the literal easiest, safest class in the game wasn't the strongest by far.

And, as far as friends go, I've never had any.

I have literally hundreds ive enjoyed the shit out of over the years.

Oh I've found games I enjoy, but they only last a couple days, like I said. I haven't had an MMO or anything longer term since fucking Mists of Pandaria.

Legion is damn good. Give it a try.

So is The monster hunter series.

You have the souls games. Of which bloodbourne is the best.

FTL has good replayablitiy.

Enter the gungeon is fun.

Binding of issac.

All those are tougher games with tons of replayability that are just as good as any old games.

Shit i have 3000+ hours played on the monster hunter series alone.

I've been meaning to get Bloodbourne ever since I got a PS4, but I lost my job shortly after getting it. Can't find a new one. As for Dark Souls, I've beaten all three many times over, so they're kind of old now.

No, not really. I quite literally start falling asleep in my chair as I play some games these days. The older games are still a ton of fun (especially Nintendo ones), but I've played them all so many times that I know them all by heart at this point.

A lot of the games I buy, I play for a couple hours and get bored, never finishing them in the end (most recent was Witcher 3 and Fallout 4). Seems that with every new generation in gaming, the games get worse and worse -- more focused on gimmicks and DLC than actually engaging gameplay -- or F2P on the computer.

There are some old games that are classics. But i dont think you quite understand how many games were made back then.

Honeslty i think your having a mid life crisis and your blaming videos games on your aging self and playing older games makes you feel young again because of the happy memories attached to the system.

I feel you. Getting old fucking sucks. Somedays i like to pull out my red and blue pokemon and olay the shit out of them.

But i dont fool my self in thinking they are better than the new pokemon games.

And I'm only 22, turning 23 in a couple weeks... I'd hope I'm not having a midlife crisis. 44-46 seems kind of young -- and I don't feel or act my age anyway. I just miss the way things used to be, is all. The games that come out nowadays are just more focused on trying to seem realistic and dark and "edgy" than just being plain fun. Nintendo games were never dark, and not all of them have super engrossing storylines, but they're always fun, even if they're not the most challenging games that existed.

Don't get me wrong, I love stories, and the story is 80% of why I play a game, but the game's gotta be fun too. Grinding and leveling skills isn't really fun, but fighting some big boss in creative ways or adventuring around and solving puzzles or doing a raid is a LOT of fun. And that's what I think modern gaming is missing, is that fun factor.

Yeah, I know there was a lot of shit back in the day, but those companies never got anywhere. We'd laugh at the garbage games they wanted us to buy, and then they'd call it quits before they lost too much money. The good companies (SEGA, Nintendo, Capcom, Square, etc.) would continue releasing great games, and it was a good time. Nowadays, those shitty companies we laughed at are the biggest ones (EA and Activision in particular), and the standard for gaming is now much lower tier than it used to be.

So, we've traded good old-fashioned fun factor, playability and challenge for flashy graphics and instant gratification. But, with a society that advocates idiocy and laziness, I'm not at all surprised; morons tend to be entertained by flashy things. Then we also have people who are hyper competitive nowadays, and competitive games made a rise, even though their gameplay is really shallow.

Not really nostalgia glasses... I'm just not a moron who has fun looking at flashy, shallow games, and I'm not hyper competitive, so modern games don't really offer a lot for me.

The boss battles are barely even battles.

Mario rpg and paper mario are the only different ones.

9 is amazing. So is 10 and 7.

Resident evil 1 was good 2 and 3 sucked 4 was the best in the series. And 7 is amazing if you havent played it you REALLY should.

Dark souls 3 is also WAYYYY better than dark souls 2.

Black and white 2 are probly the best pokemon games ever made beside omega sapphire and ruby.

And alien isolation isnt even a old game...

SM64, SMSS (My favorite Mario game, and one of my favorite games in general), SMG, SMG2, SM3DW, etc. There's also the Mario and Luigi series, the Paper Mario series, and a lot more. And, even if every game is more or less the same, they're all still fun, and I've played them all through to the end, and gotten every secret.

9 is amazing. So is 10 and 7.

1-6 are the best, and then Square left Nintendo for Sony (who cared about looking good, regardless of fun). 7 and 8 were just bad, 9 was amazing I'll give you that, 10 just wasn't Final Fantasy anymore. The rest are like 10, just not really Final Fantasy.

Dark Souls 3 was too hand-holdy and more of the same. I was getting tired of the game at the tail end of Dark Souls 2, only got part of the way into 3.

I would argue Diamond and Pearl or the original Sapphire and Ruby.

You're right, it's not. I wanted to give a couple more modern examples of good games.

I tried SWTOR and couldn't get into it, and FFXIV bored me to tears within a month with the VERY slow-paced and generic combat that amounted to 1>2>3>4>1>2>3>4>1>2>3>4>... on a 3s GCD.

Guild wars 2 is fun as well.

Now, I did (and still do) love GW2... but I'm not a casual gamer. I like to run hard dungeons and raids and all that, and GW2 is kind of limited in that regard. The raid is really easy compared to even WoW, and while the Fractals are super fun and moderately challenging, you can only do the same dungeons so many times before they get old -- doesn't help that they're really short. Combine that with the lack of a real trinity, and the mechanics are kind of limited, and it's mostly just dodging telegraphs like in Wildstar (which I did enjoy for a while too).

Speaking of Wildstar... If Wildstar was more than just telegraphs, and the classes were more than just 2-3 buttons, I'd love the hell out of that game and have no reason to complain whatsoever. But, they wanted the whales to be happy, and simplified their game to be boring.

No offense but I don't trust your game understanding.

You seem to rate champ value in champ select by money making. When that isn't the case.

I recall you giving me two teams and asking which wins. I told you which wins based on team comp. For some reason you said the other team would win just because of money, which isn't true.

Not to mention a lot of your qq posts result from you building incorrectly/playing poorly in a given situation.

  • Lee $in, Riot ADMITS he's broken, but refuses to nerf him because he makes money in LC$.

  • Any time a skin comes out for a champ, Riot either buffs them into absurdity, or ignores them while they're currently in major need of nerfs.

  • Any time a champion becomes popular because they're broken, Riot takes MONTHS to nerf them.

The strongest champs are usually the strongest because they make money. So Riot buffs them, or ignores them.

And uh, no. A lot of my "QQ" posts are when I do everything perfectly, but still lose because some braindead ADC can right click on me and instantly win despite doing nothing to deserve it. Or when I play a complex champ that requires a lot of input, aiming, thought and all that, but get DRAMATICALLY outperformed by any generic clicker.

Both under performers.

Explain why so many of the expensive champs (Kindred, Kalista, Aatrox, Azir) had their legs broke by nerfs or meta changes and left there.

Remember how they MASSIVELY buffed Garen a month ago? Yeah, that was because of his skin that was coming.

And Azir is only weak if you're bad. He's beyond broken, and then they buff him into absurdity.

Kindred, Kalista, Aatrox and Azir have low playrates. Always have. Yet, in professional play (the only thing Riot cares about), they get in the way of LC$ big play$ and flashy bullshit like Lee. So, since no one plays them anyway, and since they threaten the poster children, Riot gutted them (except Azir).

And IP cost is irrelevant. Annie is one of the cheapest champs, but has one of the most expensive skins in the game, as well as a dozen other skins. Doesn't matter how much IP they cost, it's just how broken and popular they are.
