Do you really have the right to harass someone for...

...not buying the "right" items. I understand it can frustrating when someone is building weird items. I can respect someone for politely telling Riven she should not be buying Deathcap because she is not a mage and has no use for Ability Power. I don't believe, however, that it is acceptable to harass someone because they did not buy what you believe is the "right" item. I get annoyed when Blitzcrank or Thresh buys the coin instead of the shield - but, that's just a difference in play styles and I should respect his choice, even if I don't like it. Sona built a Luden's Echo even she is support. It's a bit annoying, but as long as our team is ahead, I have no right to be a jerkwad about it.

I bring this up because for the first time in the entire year that I have played this game, I wanted to AFK because EVERY one of my teammates was harassing me because they did not like my build. Me selling all my items and starting over was really going to save everyone... Really? We lost because of my build - not because we were outplayed or outmatched. Ooh no. It was because of my items. Even the person who left base WITHOUT BUYING ITEMS got less of a tongue lash than I did.

So, do you believe it is appropriate to harass someone for buying "this" item when they should have bought "that" item??

Technically no, they don't, it's your gold, your choice.

BUT they do have the right to share their opinions on your build and make a suggestion, if I see an Azir that builds pure ap and no cooldown on the enemy team(or mine), I will tell them that cooldown is what they should aim for for the great dps, or if I see a Zed build Luden's echo, sheen rabadon's and lich bane, I will mention that they would do better with ad instead. however builds are up to you, believe it or not, there are some cool "off-meta" builds out there, for example this gem I found when Vlad was being a meany:

tank Karma:

get a item 3151 and a item 3135 then go pure tank( you're gonna need item 3065 though) and you can survive teamfights then R+W for a nice heal lol, the best part is, her ap ratios are sad but the base damage of her abilities chunk down hp yo.

so heres where the tricky issue of sorting through useful and non-useful info comes into play people are going to typically do w/e they feel like online because hey who's gonna punish them right? some will be nice some will be douchebags but sometimes the douchebags have a valid point and building ludens on sona as a support typically isnt ideal just because of the cost the trick is figuring what the reasoning is behind their "suggestion" and how it factors into the game at hand. usually its useless and you should just mute and move on or not respond in case they do say something useful(which does happen sometimes) but occasionally you get some really good advice. now sure no one should flaming you since league is still a game and as long as you arent intentionally ruining a game you are entitled to play just as much as they are. IMO moba's are not good games to play solo unless you have really thick skin though :D and if you're looking for some people to group with feel free to add me:D.

Well... sometimes... some people should really learn how to itemize. For example, although this is summoner's spells, we had a top lane Nasus go flash/ignite and then DC when his lane opponent double killed him and his jungler under his turret after Nasus dived.
