Smurfs, Rude people and AFK's

To start, I just started this game about 3 weeks ago and I'm already getting really discouraged about the state of this game. Anyway, my first game this week had two instalockers that were apparently friends or trolls. They both afk'd the whole game until the enemy had pushed into the base, in which they both challenged the team and both died. They instantly left the game after that, leaving it a 3v5. My second game I was playing ADC down in bot lane. I'm level 14 by this time, so I go up against a Blitz and a Vayne duo that were friends as well. They performed great and I was constantly pushed out the whole game. At the end of the game in the chat, they were both going "get rekt you suck" "why don't you go to noobville" and "hey you, yeah you ****, go learn to play". The most discouraging words they threw at me were "Were both platinum4 in ranked and you just got rolled!!" This was really discouraging because I just started, and apparently they have been playing for months or years. These smurfs not only were very rude, but also were really destructive to new people's experience. Do they get enjoyment in rolling us new players? My next matches were filled with Dc's, AFK's and another smurf that announced "you got owned by a Plat!!!".

When will it get better? I'm thinking of quitting because there is at least one smurf or destructive person in each game I play. With all the funding going towards this game, I'm surprised none of it is going to new player experiences, cause the one I just received sucked.

To put it bluntly, you're going to have to grow a thick skin if you want to enjoy this game. Learn to mute people as soon as they start saying negative things. The competitive nature of the game combined with being stuck in a 30-40 minute game with people tends to foster negative personalities. There's a lot of young, immature and aggressive teenagers playing the game, too, so if at all possible avoid playing in the few hours after school ends.

The best way to enjoy the game is to find a group of 5 people to play with, and turn off all chat so you can't hear the enemy team. To find friends to play with, add nice people you meet in game, and look for people to play with on the forums (or even on Reddit, /r/TeamRedditTeams and /r/LeagueConnect are good places to go).

Truth be told, it was never this bad. It's been getting worse as fewer new players are starting the game and more people are getting bored and making smurfs. Not all smurfs are bad (at least, I don't think I've been a bad community member on my smurf - I gave tips and I was very accommodating towards new players) but the majority of smurfs are people who just want to stomp newer players for their own self-satisfaction.
