Hecarim top is pretty viable and doing decently enough, but doing something you've never done before because you heard it was OP is pretty stupid without practice.

DrCyanide2 votesWhile you can definitely say he should have done more research into his build, you can't say he was trolling for trying something he'd seen someone else do.
I've played over 100 games on AP Ezreal, a build considered far more "troll" than Hecarim top. All in all, I have a 52% win rate on him, with a 60% win rate over my last 20 games. You can argue that my success comes from the time I've put into playing the champion, the low skill level of my opponents, or both, but regardless it's not a troll build when I play it.

I mean -- it's not like RANKED matters. You regularily see tournament players go, "Hey! I want to try something new TODAY -- let's go for three AD carry, and I'll play Ashe for the first time in my life!" in tournaments -- because it's not like one person matters in 5 vs 5, nor as if an AFK player is better than a player feeding opponents.
And it's not like losing a couple of games due to seriously not knowing what store items are good for your character and which order you should buy stuff, and not knowing the range of skills or being familiar with the cooldowns nor mana costs or combos causes your teammate to suffer -- players should accept and expect to lose ranked games to teammates who don't know what they're doing, with their new characters.

Realistically, solo queue ranked doesn't matter.
Your rank in solo queue will never mean anything. Your skill at the game MIGHT if you get good enough, but your rank will never mean anything. Nobody's ever going to give you a try on a pro team JUST because you're near the top of the solo queue ladder. They may give you a try because they've seen you in game and want to see how you work with a team... but they'd do that regardless of if you were #1 challenger or rank 100 diamond 2 - as long as they see you in game, if you impress a recruiter or a prominent player... there's a chance. And, the days of recruiting from solo queue are mostly gone anyways except for a few extreme cases. Start a team, climb the team ladder and get yourself noticed THERE. You'll notice that a LOT of pro teams have been pulling players from challenger teams... why? Because TEAMPLAY is what matters, not solo queue heroism.
Your rank in solo queue will NEVER amount to anything. Ever. So why care so much about it? Just focus on playing the game, getting better, and having fun. If you REALLY want to go pro, the 'getting better' part is what matters, not the 'rising in the ranks of solo queue'. Get yourself good, get yourself a team, and work towards it that way... because solo queue is a dead end for that.
Just have fun in solo queue and of course... always play as well as you can, but focus on the fun and the getting better.

If you have been playing long enough, you know how champions work, I play tons of champions I have never played before in ranked. You just have to be knowledgeable. You don't have to have ever played Ahri to understand what you to do with her when you finally do play her. And I am gold.

You are allowed to dodge. If you're confident the game will be a loss, the game will take you ~20-30 minutes and cost you 10-20 LP. IF you dodge, it costs you 5 minutes and 3 LP, thus saving you 15-25 minutes and 7-17 LP. That's a net gain.
Just looking from a numbers perspective.
