Riot, Can you clarify "A chat filter is not a reason to excessively curse!"

I read this and read it as 'cursing is okay so long as you don't do it way to often (excessively)'. I recently got reported for saying "Fuck I suck..." After I over extended and got 3 man ganked. Jungler claimed to report me for using 'offensive langauge'. That was the only 'curse' I used all game and it was directed towards my stupid decision that ended up getting me killed.

So, Riot, is it okay to curse as long as it is not excessive or can we not curse at all?

When it comes down to it, it depends on the people you are playing with. Knowing this game is on a global scale there will be people who don't care at all and others that are easily offended. Personally, if I saw this on the tribunal I would give you a pass, and most people I come into game with do not care about cursing at all, so as long as your not cursing up a storm every single game, the rare report like that is perfectly fine and you shouldn't worry about it. Occasional, off-hand cursing is a hazard element of any online game and people should realize that going in imho.

Technically the game is rated T for teen, so if it were a single player game you could maybe get away with one hardcore curse (or two depending). But since online interactions are so often not involved in the rating, out of an attempt to be polite you shouldn't swear when you don't need to :D Keep in mind, there are angry 12 year olds who shouldn't be using those words themselves lol

I curse all the time and almost never get reported. I don't say it angrily though or direct it at people. As long as you aren't getting reported consistently, you wont be punished. The only people who report for "offensive language" are probably too young to be playing a T rated game.
