If that's your basis for comparison then "exactly like him" is quite a stretch. That thing walks on five limbs whereas the Gavid in OP's post is human-like. I'll give you the similar abilities since I haven't watched Ben-10 in foreverrrrrr.

As interesting as he is, I still think it's super cool they shoved his (and other scrapped champions) in coffins in one of the Halloween skins for Summoners Rift. I wouldn't want to see "Gavid" restored without something about that coming through in his lore, but I'd be OK if a second plant person came out of his concepts.

That said, a melee plant person is where Maokai fits in.

He'd certainly be interesting. He also looks more monstrous. Zyra is cool and all but she's basically a sexy woman with leafy stuff.

I disagree. It's switched for me; I think Gavid is the big thorn monster and that's it. But like everyone is saying, he is a mixture between Maokai and Zyra and I think it was a good idea to trash him and make two more.

It seems like his concept got split between Maokai (Giant beastly man tree), and Zyra (plant magey chick).

That is exactly what happened. Gavid himself was too loaded and out of place so his mage aspects became Zyra and his bruiser aspects became Maokai.

Every now and then people dig up champion concept like rob and spider queen and ask why they never made it as a champion. The answer is always the same, they thought they could make better ones, that's it.

I don't recall exactly but I remember watching a video about a Voodoo shaman who was later scrapped to make both Fiddlesticks and Shaco.
