What is 'broken'?

Aside from Riven's blade! nyuknyuknyuk... I am so sorry.

Seriously.. what does broken mean to you? I always thought and was told 'broken' means something is so messed up (strong or weak) that a simple number change won't fix it. Other's say 'broken' means stronger than OP. Other's say so useless it is 'broken'.

The fuck does 'broken' ACTUALLY mean?

Broken is basically a champion that can only exist in two states. Incredibly strong, or incredibly weak. There is no middle ground. This is usually because the champion's kit is such that if their numbers are half decent, they are dominating. But if their numbers are hit, then they become worthless. Think Olaf and Elise.

I feel like anything is broken when it's the like the weak link of a chain. It's the part (or part of the part) of the game that weighs the whole thing down.

means something is so messed up (strong or weak)

this

Other's say 'broken' means stronger than OP

that's because it can be so messed up that it's stronger than just OP

Other's say so useless it is 'broken'.

that's because it can be so messed up that it's useless

Most people use it to mean that it literally breaks the game. In other words, the game no longer works as intended.

This can happen by any mechanism; that isn't where the definition comes from. It comes from something ruining the experience of LoL. That's just my opinion on how I hear it used. It's a question of extremity, not mechanism.

"Over-powered" or "unbalanced" has to do with a champion or item being quantitatively stronger than it should be. "Broken" or "unhealthy" has to do with a champion or item being qualitatively stronger than it should be.

I think you basically got it; it's also used to describe stuff that's buggy as hell, among other things. It's just one of those terms that gets thrown around a lot and has a stupidly broad definition as used in LoL context. Context clues be your friend :3

Stronger than OP. UP is just bullshit. Something doesn't "break the game" because it is under powered.

I think it means like you broke the scale. You put too much power into a champion or item and now it is off the charts. I don't think the kit has to be unfixable for the champion to be broken, it could just be overtweaked. Just means the balance in the game as upset and needs to be repaired, imo.
