So assume lvl 18 pure tank full build vrs lvl 18 ADC full build, who is supposed to win the fight. Assuming they both have great skill.
Now i know it's kind of a dumb question, all ADCs aren't the same, some can kite better, some are better aoe and some better 1 v 1. Not talking about vayne either. I am tanking on pure itemization. Tank itemization vrs ADC itemization.
If skill is even and tank skips MR, I believe it depends a lot on champions. For example, Shen isn't likely to win a duel ever ever, while Rammus will get the job done easily.Also, do you consider Olaf and many other bruisers tanks?
Depends on how they've both built, and therefore - to an extent - on the teamcomps.
For example, if the ADC is the only AD on their team, it's likely the tank - with lots of hp - will have relatively low armor stats, allowing more damage through.
On the other hand, if there isn't a significant magic dmg threat, it's likely the tank built more armor to go with their hp. And if there's not much cc, perhaps ninja tabi over merc treads.
However, in general, ADC itemization should win out - damaging tanks is a huge part of their job description.
That isn't a straightforward answer.
What champ is the tank/adc? What are the builds? Are they building straight armor and thornmail, etc?
You can't just say, who wins role versus role because there are different types of tanks by a mile.
You also can't simply say itemization vs itemization, because...what specifically are the items?
If you are versus a rammus, you got dat attack speed, and he thornmails and puts on his armor, you are dead. you will kill yourself trying to kill him, and he had damage on top of it.
You have your core ad items, sure, but tank items can vary greatly. Are they building more health or armor? Do they have cc or some sort of dash? Can you actually kite them, like with a Kalista who no one can catch if you are melee, or are you someone more like Varus who has to rely on cooldowns very heavily?
I know that isn't the answer you wanted, but it simply won't ever be a case of one will beat the other, because there are far too many factors that I could list all day.
In general, the tank.
on a general level, the tank is likely to win this fight (particularly if they have a damage return like Thornmail and a gap close and/or hard CC - even moreso when coupled with 
)
However, if you're essentially trying to itemize to be a tank killer, there's no reason not to take 
. So in essence it comes down to not only champ kits, but the items they're rocking as well.
