Bots just made for a terrible first ever league match for my buddy

And I am not talking about enemy bots. He did a beginner bot match. First EVER league match. first MOBA. 2 of his teammates were bots. They had automated responses whenever a teammate got a kill (became obvious when they repeated the same 4 phrases in the exact same order over and over), they followed one of the other players for random amounts of time then switched. When I say they followed I mean if my friend moved a step left the bots made the exact same move with every single click he made. They both bought the exact same items at the exact same time, never helped kill anything and blindly pathed into towers for no reason.

Both my friend and another player on the team were clearly brand new to league. The only reason they didn't lose it the Kat on his team was a smurf. Needless to say, he hated his intro to league.

I've only experienced them in Dominion so far, thank the Lord, but it's still rather frustrating when you lose a beginner bot dominion game because you are the only person on your team trying to take points.

Bots have been a problem for so long. The sad thing is, because they don't really affect anyone at level 30, nor do they appear in ranked, not to mention the fact that a botter can create a new LoL account in a minute or so, nothing seems to happen and the problem is hard to fix.

Still, better than my first Dota 2 match.

I personally only see them once in a great while when I go for a quick and easy first win off int bots, but mostly I'm either playing with high silvers and golds with the occasional plat mixed in within Draft norms que... or on the smurf account I'm literally facing other smurfs the overwhelming majority of the time and they are unlikely to show up in either location. I do stay away from Dominion though, that place is thoroughly infested.

But yes, there are several varieties I've had the displeasure to encounter and they can be exceedingly annoying. Most annoying I've personally encountered is basically a boat anchor tied around your waist because it follows you (and thus steals xp) automatically autos anything in the area (thus stealing some CS or pushing wave when it isn't warranted) and backs when you do to stay as attached as possible.

It seems like whenever I play an ARAM game all the other players are bots. When I have a long ranged AOE mage like Xerath or Velkoz it isn't too bad because they're so predictable, but literally any other champion type and it gets unbearable. They all move to the exact same position so their textures overlap and they can do some insane burst damage since they all attack the same target at the same time.

These bots need to go.

Bots are the main reason I don't play 3v3... one time I was in a game of pure bots it was me 2 bots versus 2 other guys and one bot,i carried the game only because I used the bots as meat shields.... im not lying....never played 3v3 again after that

It is what it is. Riot MIGHT start caring about new players when they actually start seeing significant numbers of players leaving the game, but they aren't. This game has MILLIIONS of level 30 players playing every day across the world. A couple thousand newbies can try the game and quit every day and it won't even register as a drop in the bucket. They just have to buy EXP boosts, slog through to level 30, and then pat themselves on the back for having stuck with it.

I lost an intermediate bot game because the bot team had a lot of hard-scaling champs and our soraka support was a bot that latched onto our Jinx (who wasn't very good herself). So it was essentially a 3v5 that we couldn't beat.

Another one had me as the ADC and I showed our Tryn jungle how my support just followed me without a word, even moving away from the creep wave bot lane. We both laughed it off and won, though it's still annoying to have these types of bots in games.

simply go and play a normal game as i did being a brand new to the league, went annie mid, won, bots are for leveling acc, trying new champs etc, not for learning anything

If a game has to reel you in on the first go at it, it probably isn't for you.

'installs league" plays the tutorial ' ok this game isnt so bad i kinda like it' feeds in bots " i just need to play an op champ" buy yi and feeds with him "ok i suck at this game" 'uninstalls'

Did you make him play the tutorial? Have you considered playing a custom game with him to explain how to click and move, how to back, how to buy items, and whatnot?

I hope I don't come across as rude, but a custom game would really help introduce him to core concepts of gameplay in League.

I was just playing some custom bot matches with my friend to try out the champions in this weeks free rotation. One thing I hate about bots is that they have no concern for their life. Whenever we got into their vicinity they would just simply charge us and it was so annoying. We couldn't farm off minions and I just got pissed off. They chase you to your tower then they back off and continue farming off minions. Then all of a sudden, they are level 6 while your still level 3 because you didn't have much chance to farm. They were on intermediate but it seemed like our team was automatically losing.

The problem with bots is that fixing them is nearly impossible...

There will ALWAYS be ways to automate the scripting so Riot can't make botting impossible(and I'd be willing to bet that Riot is constantly altering minor bits of the code to make it more difficult already). New accounts are free and easy to sign up for so banning them is redundant... and as long as gifting is a thing, bots will always have relevance.

There's really no way to stop botting, except to either make the game pay to play(which still probably wouldn't stop them since the amount of money they're making would probably exceed the costs - look at WoW) or to have the game use a universal ID like it does in Korea.

Not saying either of those are GOOD ideas, but those are really the only ways to stop botting. It's unfortunate, but true.
