i see alot of mobility boots in LCS supports

I was wandering why this is, pretty much all supports are going with mobility boots. I mean they aren't split pushers, or junglers so they have to go to the ganks faster. If you play morgana why not get sorc shoes for some more dmg, your are building hourglass anyways, or maybe armor boots to reduce dmg from AAs. Mayve build ionian for cdr, or cc duration reduction boots.

It doesn't make much sense, i mean movement speed is crucial but as a support you dont need it as much as other roles. Also mobility boots are on 45 till you stay out of fight enough to get the extra boost of speed so i just don't get it... Can someone pls explain to me why this happens?

I thought the same when I was still in silver. Then I realized that very often the adc/mid laner died because you couldn't get back to them fast enough from warding the jungle. With mobis you have better survivability in the jungle and roam much better. A support isn't going to do any major damage with other upgrades anyway.

A lot of Supports are in that role because of the utility they bring. Not the damage, not the tanking. They often have to get into the right position to set up the fight for their team, or roam and help lanes other than just chilling in bot all day.

Plus, some Supports can do their job almost entirely without entering combat, so they retain the MS boost far more than anyone else.

Mobis are a lot cheaper than any other boots and LCS supports tend to roam a lot while low elo supports legitimately do sometimes just sit in a bush.

Mobis are also good in a winning lane because a play-making Support like Thresh will have a wider range of influence due to being able to get into a threatening position more quickly. Imagine a 430 movement speed Thresh running at you with Death Sentence up past your minions. Even if the movement speed is lost, it's still a position that would have been harder to accomplish.
