How serious should someone take rank?

Do I have to play top tiered champions only or can I play something that's been working in normals? Do I have to follow the standard build path or can I put my own twist on it? Can I surrender or is that not taking it seriously enough?

The list goes on and on.

As long as we have the standard 1/1/2/jg lanes I couldn't care what you build so long as you have experience with whatever strategy you are about to use.

What do you consider negative attitude?

Is telling an ally that they made a mistake negative attitude? Is saying let them have dragon negative attitude? Is saying that we wont win early game negative attitude?

Anything can be blown out of proportion. There just needs to be a baseline on what is considered serious.

Explain to me why a game should be taken seriously? Nothing bad happens if you lose.

I'm also curious as what you think isn't serious enough for ranked, but is fine for normals, as you should always do your best to win regardless of the game mode.

I'm referring to build changes bigger than just situational builds. For an example, whenever I play Veigar, I pretty much always buy Banner of Command second. That's not really something people do.

I also like to build Cho'gath AD. Again not the accepted thing.

Would those count as not taking the game seriously or they alright?

Yeah agree. I got placed with some REALLY ~~bad ~~ new players when the mmr reset. There were people raging at me for doing things that are just normal smart play. Like pushing out side lanes before you siege mid. Or itemizing differently than the top mobafire guide for you champion. Gotta believe you'd have people reporting players for trying out champs like Bard in ranked for the first time (even with a handful of normal games under their belt). Not a fan of this idea.

Yeah.... This is dum. Normally people who take ranked too seriously are the first to throw a hissy for every little thing. After all this is ultimately a game. If you want to go pro, go join a team or something. Don't solo q and be surprised when there's a few people who really aren't going ham and are just playing LoL and happen to be playing in ranked instead of normals.

Lol I've been up and down silver all this month. Obviously It doesn't really phase me because it's a game. I have a life and a job outside of LoL. And there's been plenty of games where people have "first time x" and really it can go either way.

I wouldn't say try hards. I have bad games also. What really ruins it is when teammates want to cry their eyes out in all chat and start arguing with teammates. Like seriously. Why are you fighting among each other? And what makes you think the enemy Really cares and wants you bringing the toxicity into all chat? *face palm

Heh to be honest I was actually being salty at you :P The reason was that you didn't differentiate between between people like me, that play to win, and try to do well in all their games unless given specific circumstances(e.g. hit it with premades and goof around) and people that are generally pricks no matter what and just live their lives looking for excuses to shit on everyone in a competitive invironment. Basically the equivalent of meatheads back in highschool but in beebee-oh gamez. On a sidenote I completely agree with you: the enemy team is here to have fun not put up with the 12 year old Ahri mid player that got ganked by top and complained about not calling missing despite the chat being filled with pings AND him not warding at all who proceeds to flame in /all .

This is why I avoid ranked games. I have only played like 15 all season. People in ranked throw get on you for every little mistake. I mostly just queue up with friends in teambuilder lol.

Had 4 Goldie's on my team (Just got Silver 2 and climbing) and they all raged at me for going amu support, yet they all fed. Spit on me and called me a "silver forever" I was 4-4 at the end they were like 4-8 and i got reported for offensive language lol... i didn't speak all game except my polite defense to their rude remarks. Not to mention they voted to surrender like 4 times. Surrender in ranked? Puh-leeze.

Turns out it was some streamer with throusands of viewers. Probably busy typing stuff and/or chatting with fans, instead of playing...

how do you go about checking the validity of this? do you go on a case by case game by game basis where you watch replays of the games and determine this? or does some computer algorithm do some sort of crazy calculation and come up with an answer?

Reporting somebody for not taking a videogame seriously, lolwut. This is the reason why we have so much toxicity, people take this game too seriously, it ruins the fun and creates tension. I don't take ranked seriously, nor do I hardly even play it in the first place, should I get banned because I'm enjoying myself?

honestly i'd rather have a ranked team of people not taking the game seriously than a team of people taking it seriously. Taking a game too seriously removes a lot of fun. Have you seen urf? I banned urgot, taric, and talon so people raged at me. Idk what happened to urf but people like you, people who want to take this game seriously, are the reason that the game is starting to get worse. You're probably one of those people who only play OP champions like zed in urf instead of trying something different.

Honestly I think people should be encouraged to ease up on how serious they take ranked. I am not saying be a dummy and throw the game, wander alone etc.

But I refuse to play ranked now because everyone is so pent up with stress that the smallest thing will set them off. If you die and are the first blood, you almost always have that 1 guy assume its GG. The quiet ones start losing hope, everyone's barely on tilt and it just sucks.

You get viewed as a feeder, unskilled, toxic etc from losing lane, trying to help someone, or not picking a champion that is considered good in the meta as opposed to a champion I would be skilled at.

So. Fuck this idea.

I'll play ranked however the hell I want and if you don't like it you can smd. There's no law that says I have to do anything more than try to win that doesn't mean I have to take it seriously.
