So, why is this allowed?

So, there's a name I want: Farore (Zelda was my childhood, and almost everything I do is named after it, even my current name, Sciela). Looking the name up, it has literally no games minus one or two a season (and it only shows four games in season 5, nothing before or after) to keep the name from being available, but Riot won't unlock the name even though it's clearly not being used.

My question is why is that allowed? That's really just asinine of that person, and I don't know why they just allow it; most companies would just unlock the name since it has no activity at all, and obviously isn't being used.

Send a ticket in if you can and see what they say about it.

Riot isn't going to take the name away from that player so a ticket is just clogging the system. Everyone follows the same rules for name reservation; https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/201751914

If the rules aren't good enough then they need to be changed, not have individual exceptions be made. If I took a break for a season I'd be awfully pissed if Riot gave my name away instead of following the rules that are supposed to protect all of us.

Thing is, Riot won't do anything unless it can be proven to boost their income potential.

Sure, I understand that. But see, this person has zero recorded games (discluding four games in the beginning of season 5) in the time that op.gg and lolking have been a thing, which I assume is years. If I just totally quit League, and played one game every couple years to hold my name, do you feel like that's fair?

yeah me too man. I wanted the name Sasuke Uzamaki cos its the name of my like 2 favourite amine characters like since like forever n I was absolutely devo when it was taken :'(((. you'll just have to get creative call yourself something nobody has thought of like 'Ganon Balls'

Yeah I know the rule. But this person obviously quit League. They have four games since 2012, and have no recorded anything other than a couple games to reserve the name basically.

But hey, modern society advocates being an asshole like that, and Riot is too greedy to really give a damn about things, so I'm not really surprised.
