"Report support for not buying Sightstone"

Boomerangbro·7/21/2015, 4:56:11 AM·5 votes·1,879 views

Oh really now. If it's that important to you, why don't YOU buy it? Ever thought of that? I know, all you adc's care about are your precious kills and have me as your meatshield when someone comes to gank, but if this item is too important to pass up, surely you can't spend a couple of your measly gold on such a valuable purchase.

Oh, what's that? Your support is actually talking? He's real? I thought he was the one that I could throw the blame on when I'm playing poorly. Seriously, get it yourself and stop crying.

It's not a carry item. You won't carry with 150 extra health and the ability to do a job your support can do more efficiently. It's better that the support buys it because they are not required to do a lot of sustained damage, and that 800 gold that would be spent on a sightstone could easily be a pickaxe instead.

If you want glory, don't play support.

Not buying Sightstone is not a reportable offence so you shouldn't have any worries on that front. Although I would advise purchasing one as a support since, unfortunately, you'll be the one doing most of the warding on the map. You can get by with purchasing an upgraded trinket, but then you're denied the sweeper which denies vision to the other team. Vision is very important when you reach higher levels in League. Being able to provide and deny it is very useful.

Supports are usually picked for their utility over damage anyway. You can have your damage build if you want but it's not a supports job to deal damage. It's a support's job to protect the carry and a sightstone is not a cost effective item on a carry.

Well sometimes I have that idiot support who starts lane with item 1052 and rushes item 3089 (which takes 25 minutes for them to build since they are not getting CS) and buys zero wards the entire time, despite me politely asking them to. Then I have to buy item 2049 as an ADC and lose damage.

I'm not against supports buying damage items. I ward as ADC, I buy wards on my first back and upgrade my trinket at level 9, so i'm not treating my support as a ward slave. If my support protected me during laning phase and has a sighstone then they can build all the damage they want because it's too fun seeing item 3100 Sona at work.

I like this. I feel like every player (maybe even more so the Jungler) should buy Sightstone (don't need to upgrade it) until they get a full build then they can replace it. A support cannot ward an entire map alone. A little help would be nice.

The job of the support is to protect the ADC and poke during laning, ward the map, and deny vision. Sightstone and sweeper is the most efficient way to do that. If you don't buy SS in the first three items and equip a sweeper, you have failed as a support.

Sightstone should always be rushed as a support, you can't stay too cocky by highly depending on just your champion's abilities to secure the safety of your ADC. Having vision on river for two purposes, which is watching out for incoming ganks or dragon engage, is highly essential for the support to do the job, and you can't really just depend on your trinket alone to do it. Your role is highly covering the vision part, while your ADC covers the damage part, while still being able to provide a little vision for himself.

It's recommended to buy Sightstone after item 3097 item 3096 item 3098 , or if you're confident in your gold gains through Masteries & such, take it as a first buy. item 3401 item 3069 item 3092 is not necessary to rush early game, as it only has high impact on late game.

Aim for sightstone and a pink first back, I would be more upset if my adc bought a sightstone than a support not grabbing one, adcs need damage, not utility, although it's nice when one upgrades their trinket.

On another note, im not sure i would rush talisman, going sightstone into mobo boots (and for the love of god actually roaming with them if you go this route, while you have dragon, botlane river and tri bush warded and you aren't against a super oppressive lane (think sona and cait) and then snagging that talisman or aegis, now thats a build i think most of us can "support." (lol puns))

Build for your team. I often get sightstone and aegis in the jungle, but there's nothing wrong woth having two sightstones and two sweepers on your team.

The sightstone is the most gold efficient item in the game FOR A SUPPORT.

If you aren't buying it, you are factually playing the game inefficiently. 1 I don't necessarily think that warrants you getting reported, but it is CERTAINLY sabotaging your team's chances for success.

While I don't condone reporting someone over getting/not getting X item, I pretty much always consider my support to be shit if they don't get Sighstone, this coming from someone who is used to playing support and knows the benefits of it.

EDIT: Nvm, baited by a lvl 20 account thread.

I guess my whole point is. The ADC has money to buy a ward. USE IT!

Sarutobi7/21/2015, 7:02:35 AM1 votes

i say as long as you are buying wards, and upgrading your trinket (although i feel sweeping lens would be better) then you dont need to buy a sightstone. i mean it is better and just becomes a habit for me! but its not like you need it if you are buying wards and using your trinket!

IcyPepper7/21/2015, 7:06:52 AM1 votes

A support should buy sightstone because of the gold efficiency. Everyone should be buying wards spread throughout the game, only the support can afford (and gets the most out of it, maybe alongside junglers) to sink 800 early gold into it.

But it's still a choice, just a pretty obvious (buy the sightstone unless you're acting as a second apc and your team is fine with what you're doing).

But it's not a reportable offense to not buy one. That's like saying it should be a reportable offense to never buy wards, and if that were the case many adc players (not mains, mains actually buy wards. Honestly, upgraded blue trinket post-9, keep tri-bush warded pre-9 so support can ward priority areas) would strangely go silent on the matter.

Everyone should be contributing to vision, not making the support their personal ward slave.
