Anime recommendations?

Niyumi·9/23/2016, 5:59:31 AM·1 votes·793 views

SO! I don't know what to watch. D: I had a few recommendations that I looked into, and I liked them, but now I'm out of animes. I like animes that are more light-hearted and positive, feel-good animes rather than super depressing, dark, violent ones.

I liked Heaven's Lost Property, Chobits, Plastic Memories, DearS, No Game No Life, Amaama to Inazuma (Sweetness and Lightning), Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon?, FMA (little too dark), Dragonball, Pokemon, Rosario Vampire, Monster Musume (a bit, way too slutty for me, but funny) and Re:Zero (though it's wayyyyyy too dark).

So, any suggestions?

Do you want to feel? Angel Beats, Toradora, Anohana, Your Lie in April. I heard Madoka Magica was supposed to be really sad, but it seemed pretty mediocre in that regard to me.

If you can't decide on what to watch, I recommend going through the alphabet and watching a show for each letter.

Angel Beats. Amagi Brilliant Park. Toradora. Nichijou. Tons of others I can't list because my brain is being dumb.

Maybe "Trigun" but it's on the action side. Probably a bad suggestion. Sorry.

"Excel Saga" is funny but I only saw an episode or two. I don't know if it's your style. Here it is Subbed and uploaded by Funimation (there may be a Dub too):

"Ranma 1/2" is a classic. Again, I'm not sure if it's your style.

"Naruto" has a nice mix of light hearted, action, serious.... I could be wrong here. Sorry. You need a trial or account or something for this site, sorry:

"Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu" is comedy. Funimation upload, Subbed:

"Lucky Star" I only saw a tiny bit:

I don't have an official upload for these: "Love Hina" is pretty good if you can find it. "Azumanga Daioh" is good from what I've seen of it. I don't remember where "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" fits in.

All my suggestions are old and you may have seen them.

My default is to say that_ Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex_ (Seasons 1&2) is the best show I've ever watched. It's my desert island show, I could watch it over and over till my eyes fall out. On top of that, the dub is one of the best in the business.

After that I drop down to my next tier, shows that have a pretty rich world that gets explored the further you dive. Spice & Wolf, Darker Than Black, GATE, and Log Horizon take the cake there, though if you broaden the descriptor enough, almost any show fills that criteria.

From there it's the guilty pleasures. Shows that are too inane to take seriously, too off the wall to normally suggest, or too laser focused on a certain thing to see much appeal. It's mostly a grab bag of shows that don't fit into the Absolute Best or High Quality monikers. Inazuma Eleven, Nerima Daikon Brothers, Ghost Hunt, Ghost Stories^, Serial Experiments Lain, Mononoke, and Ouran High School Host Club.

Do note that I've excluded anime already mentioned. I think both FMA series are in the top 20 of the past 2 decades, easily. As well, just because an anime is in that third group doesn't mean I don't love it. Renge from Ouran is so me (at least, what my friends say) that a few of them have changed what they see for my skype name to stuff like 'Renge' or 'Oh-hohoho!'. And Inazuma Eleven is a shit anime. It's bad, just awful. Some of the most off the wall and inanest dribble I've seen.... but I fucking love it. It gets me pumped and energetic and I'm glued to my seat. It's shit, and I wallow in it like a goddamn pig.

^: This only counts for the dub, which was reflavored with ad-libbed dialogue after an abysmal run in Japan.

I liked Wagnaria, Akame ga Kill (a little dark), yamada and the 7 witches, food wars, fma brotherhood is better than fma (idk which one you watched), toradora. Goldentime was also alright (from what i can remember). All can be found on crunchyroll (except you can't watch all of toradora unless you're a member. if you aren't hulu has the full series)

My personal favourite light hearted anime is Baka no Test/Baka and Test/Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu depending on what you want to call it. Pretty good in both subbed and dubbed form. Not what I would call an amazing anime per say, but I haven't found anything that cheers me up more to watch. Pretty sure I have seen it more than any other anime for that fact alone.

Okami-san and her seven companions is also a fun watch. A few dark themes bounced around near the end but still a highly amusing show. It contains both my favourite tsundere character as well as a main character who is terrified of people staring at him. Pretty amusing.

Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash.

It's paced rather slow but that only adds to the anime. It's like a much more realistic, character-driven SAO. The art and music are fantastic as well.

Grimgar can get a little dark at times, so if you don't enjoy it try The Devil is a Part Timer for a much more lighthearted fantasy anime.

Since I haven't seen anyone say it, I would STRONGLY recommend Steins;Gate to just about anyone who's interested in anime.

Well it looks like you really like boob anime lmao xD if you would like some plot, Naruto/Naruto Shippuden/Bleach/ Sword art online, don't watch attack on titan, it was bad in my opinion, baaaad story line. Those are some decent ones that iv'e watched.

Full metal alchemist, and all of its various titles and series, all of these are more serious and less goofy.

If you want to watch some really cool OLDER anime movies, i suggest Steam Boy, and Castle in the Sky, both are fantastic and look AMAZING. Great story and beautiful art, worth watching time and time again. I wouldn't call them an "anime movie" as much as just an animated movie xD.
