"We give a fuck about our game" -- honest!

Though, I've yet to see ANYTHING to prove that.

  • You intentionally break champions, keep broken champs broken, and refuse to nerf any of your money makers (Fizz Enthusiast just proved this one the other day, talking about how you won't nerf Lee because of LC$).

  • You half-ass anything that isn't directly affecting your income potential, and outright ignore bugs and issues that have been around for years, going so far as to say they're meaningless to fix.

  • You repeatedly lie to our faces about how you care so deeply about balance and strive to make the game fair and fun for everyone... yet everything you do is the opposite of what you say.

... and there's just so many more tiny little things you do. I just don't understand why people worship Riot and companies like it. None of the companies care about anything outside of money anymore, yet people pushed away the companies who did give a fuck? Like, what kind of sense does that make?

Quality isn't a thing anymore, nor is passion in the industry... and apparently people wanted that? Why?

This game is fun, and I do enjoy it, but I just can't stand all the greed and bullshit that Riot pulls, the blatant lies to my face every time they say something, this whole charade about them giving a fuck outside of income potential... I would quit in a heartbeat if I could find something else to play, and I think I'm done buying anything from them -- though they don't care, since I'm not a whale.

I just don't understand why people enable shitty companies and shitty people.

"anymore" - They never did. If they pretended to, that was just for long term gain. That's why some companies pretend to do it now, because it makes the current generation of moneyholders feel good about themselves.

nor is passion in the industry

hahahahahahahahahahahaha

Well, assuming you were serious... that shows a lack of awareness. For the vast majority of gaming companies, simply working at a game company pays you significantly less than working at a more traditional software engineering job (like IBM/Oracle/Microsoft/Google/etc.). Those latter companies are also much less likely to expect you to work tons of overtime throughout the year. When I read Riot's job posting for interns back in... S4 I think?... it implied interns were expected to work 60 hour weeks. These are the young minds that you're hoping to attract as long time investments for full time employees.

If you don't have passion, you go take a database management job. If you don't have passion, you quit after the fourth time the producer says "I promise, only one more month of 7 day work weeks". If you don't have passion, you don't even get the game development job in the first place because you wouldn't get past the "how passionate are you" interviewer that's on most game dev interview loops.

You can take Fizz Enthusiast's words out of context. And then in six months when there's no one like Fizz Enthusiast posting on the boards, you can wonder "why doesn't Riot respond when we ask questions QQ". And when you find that next game, you can make hyperbolic statements about that company and how it's that company's fault you're so enraged.

On the other hand... you could try creating a great video game. Get it to have tens of millions of active players. Do your own hiring and make sure you only get passionate and honest employees. Make the world a better place yourself.
