If you can't counter pick then flex or unorthodox pick.

Don't blind pick something that's seen in the same role 95% of the time, unless your playing it in a different role, or in a different way(maybe tank build instead of damage).

Don't go something like Zed mid or Leona supp if you haven't seen their mid or supp yet, just pick a flex champ in the 2nd or 3rd role like Kennen mid/supp or Kindred adc/top to reduce chances of getting hard countered.

This is also why you need a decent champion pool and experience in all roles.

If you are like, "I only play one champ/role", get over yourself...

At low ELOs counter-picking is grossly over-rated. Player > champ.

Counters don't matter very much. I play a lot of TwistedFate and, to be honest, he's the perfect example of a champion who literally just gives 0 fucks who he's fighting. Pre-6 vs an Ahri or Leblanc sucks, but once I hit six they're lucky if I'm in that lane for more than 3 seconds. So honestly, just pick something you know the ins and outs of.

In low elo especially, if someone goes out of their way to counter pick you, they probably aren't very good at the champ they picked anyway.

That may work at higher elos, but below Diamond, it's more about who you're good at than who's good against whom.

While I do agree that you need experience on multiple champions and multiple positions, countering is kinda not a great idea.
