let me tell you why the avengers 1 and 2 were bad

you know the most damning thing about the avengers and avengers 2?

the camera work. never have i EVER seen more lazy camera work in a movie.

oh hey anyone in the movie at all is talking CLOSE UP

lets use other movies that are considered classics as examples.

Goodfellas. remember that scene where henry hill is walking through that restaraunt with the camera following behind him? that's called steadicam. these shots are incredibly hard to do well, and when done correctly really make you feel like you're inside the movie, following henry hill through the club's kitchen. if there's even one mistake it requires a reshoot of the WHOLE scene. but the payoff is HUGE.

lets go back to the avengers now, and joss whedon's "CLOSE UP SPECIAL" seriously that's all the guy's ever been known for. is closeups and headshots. it's boring, it brings no new perspective to the film, and is the sign of lazy director.

the avengers 2 had this problem too, but this is mainly the reason why the first avengers sucked.

The Avengers 2 sucked because disney saw the insane amount of memes, and internet following the first avenger got and decided "ok lets add more memey escapades! they'll love it" so instead of some actual good script, we got 2 things. the first one was "HAHA SELF-DEPRECATING HAWKEYE MEMES", and that completely stupid scene at hawkeye's ranch house.

Like, there was all this obvious sexual tension between black widow and hawkeye in the first movie, so disney and joss decide to follow it up with "alright everyone we'll be safe at hawkeyes montana ranch with his never before mentioned wife and 2 kids." no explanation. no backstory. just some random dumb bimbo married to hawkeye to give the character depth. only to have him make fun of himself the WHOLE MOVIE. Also, how the hell are you going to bring in quicksilver and scarlet witch, kill quicksilver off, and then change scarlet witch's powers so that they're sort of like her powers but also not at all like them at the same time.

tl;dr

avengers 1 was bad because of repetitive boring camera angles that never brought in a fresh perspective

avengers 2 was bad because they tried to hard to cash in on the memes, and didn't even write a good script.
