Anime recommendation?

So, I'm kind of a noob when it comes to anime -- didn't really get into it much until like... a year ago. Watched Dragon Ball and all that when I was little, but that was about it. Now I've watched Chobits, DearS, Plastic Memories, Heaven's Lost Property, Squid Girl, Full Metal Panic (never finished this one, didn't really like it), Rosario Vampire, Fairy Tale and Full Metal Alchemist.

Now I want a new anime to watch, but I don't know where to even begin! I want something that's light-hearted and happy, not too violent or gory, and preferably with a touch of romance thrown in (not a requirement). Something that's more of a feel-good show than a sad or scary one.

Also, where can I go outside of Netflix to watch anime without worrying about viruses? >.>

Oh my god, all these recommendations, and nobody mentions Cory in the House? smh.[slayer-jinx-unamused]

When it comes to anime sites though, Crunchyroll is amazing for free anime every season, and Kissanime.to for anything they don't cover. (By the way, check out Hyouka; it might be something you could be looking for)

I can only give you a list of animes I really liked, but aren't that violent. With short description.

  • **I can't understand what my husband is saying ** 3 minute long per episode comedy about daily life of an otaku and his wife.
  • **Arakawa under the bridge ** A businessman whose motto is "Never be indebted to anybody" gets pranked by kids and falls into a river. He is saved by a passerby and does everything to pay the debt.
  • **Katanagatari ** A story of a man who lived his life in a forest with his sister and one day a woman comes in asking for his help obtaining legendary swords.
  • **Maoyuu Maou Yuusha ** A hero on a quest to slay the Demon King and end the human-demon war... the King turns out to be a woman, who doesn't want to continue the war.
  • MM! A boy with a disorder finds his way into Second Voluntary Club in order to cure it. His realized the club members aren't exactly normal.
  • **Noragami ** A girl saves a man from under a bus... grows a half-transparent tail and realizes her actual body is lying on a sidewalk. The man turns out to be a god.
  • Overlord What happens when you stay until the server of your favourite VRMMO closes? Apparently it stops being virtual and you get transported into another world... as the most powerful being, with your own fortress and faithful group of maids.
  • **Sakurasou no pet na kanojo ** A boy is transfered to a dorm for special people and is put in charge of taking care of a savant artist who don't understand the concept of clothes.
  • **Steins Gate ** A mad scientist creates a time machine... out of a microwave. Things are set in motion.
  • **Toaru Majutsu no Index ** in a world with magicians and espers is a boy with none of those abilities. Instead has a power to negate all of them. He finds a girl who has memorized entire library worth of grimoires and is in danger.
  • **Utawarerumono ** A girl finds an injured man in the woods and tends his wounds. He starts helping around the village, but that's just the beginning. A story about war, nothing too violent, though.
  • **Spice and Wolf ** And now for the best anime in the list (if you think otherwise, you are objectively wrong). A merchant finds his way into a village durning a harvest festival, which has a game where a person is locked in a barn with the last sheaf, in which a wolf deity is said to reside... Did I mention the merchant came to a town with his own sheaf? They strike a deal. He is to deliver the god to a land in north.

"Is This A Zombie?" Isn't that bad in my opinion, I find it pretty funny, Soul Eater is fairly good aswell and I enjoyed it. That's kind of my genre though there's a few other ones, but I forgot the names...

You actually watched Rosario+Vampire? My hat is off to you, good sir, I barely made it past episode two.

First off, I should say that if you like the stories and are a good reader at all, I recommend reading some of the mangas. Just like in western media, not all anime are faithful adaptations... Rosario+Vampire is a particularly good example of this. The manga is one of my favorites, and has a much deeper plot. Others I would recommend are Full Metal Alchemist, Soul Eater, and Saint Young Men (these all have animes, though I cannot speak for the quality of the last one).

Assuming Fairy Tail is about your tolerance for violence, I can recommend:

  • Toradora Two outcast high schoolers team up to set the other up with their best friends. Comedy, hijinks, and good stories result.
  • Ghost Stories (English Dub) A rather horrible story of some middle-schoolers exorcising ghosts in their town was given new life by the English dub crew, which was given full licence to re-write and ad-lib. Very funny.
  • Angel Beats The stories of high schoolers trapped in limbo after they died. The first episode might be a bit weird, but it gets funnier after that. Expect comedic violence and an amazing soundtrack. Some gags are better in the sub, but it has a good dub.
  • Steins;Gate Yes, that is how they spell it. Vistha Kai also recommends it. This show is a well-paced suspence/ thriller with an engaging underlying plot. I recommend the dub. Be sure to watch the OVA after you finish!

Finally, I like watching GR Arkada for anime recomendations/ reviews.

Happy watching!
