So... I hear a Riot team made a fighting game based on League champions, and here are my thoughts.

My thoughts on this are very high as I have always loved fighting games.

and beyond.

So, what do we do in this game? What I mean is, how do they fight? Well, shooters like Graves and Lucian will stay shooters. But, how? Well, they will not have auto attacks and they will not gain AS with items anymore. Abilities will be used, and so will passives but 1 ability will not be used.

A champion has 4 abilities: 3 regular and 1 ultimate. You will choose 1 of the 3 regular for a botton press and 1 for a small gage attack. The ability you chose for a botton press will have less effect than it usually would at full rank and the small gage will send out the ability as weak or as strong as it is filled. The ultimate will be usable if you fill the gage to its fullest and is only used once.

The other 3 buttons are for jumping, fighting/shooting, and releasing the gage feature.

Now, how do we make this fair?

Like, Fizz using his dodge too many times. Well, if you make it into a button press, it will deal no damage. But if its a small gage, it deals damage based on how full it is.

If you have any other thoughts on this, please comment bellow.

Also, the gage feature will/may be based off the Street Fighter game style, but other games have it as well so it should be no problem.

Hi!

You're probably thinking of League of Fighters, a project of which I'm very proud to be a part. No, this is not officially endorsed or sponsored by Riot Games, and it will be completely non-profit. We make zero money off this. If you want to know more about the game, I suggest you check out Team Instaburst's (that's us) website!

Please look forward to our game~!

Cheers.

From Street Fighter to.... Mortal Kombat. I don't think that's a really big bracket imo.

Probably include something smaller like Blazblue, KoF, Virtua Fighters, Melty Blood etc.

Pretty sure there are work arounds for this kind of stuff, considering Noel from Blazblue is also a duo pistol character, yet she is okay.

Wanna know how adcs will play? They'll just spam Distortion Drive for free I frames on everything. Its k. Cuz i'll just ice car cancel into air D cross ups for free damage

Or we can just 2A all day and kill our overall combo damage. BASICALLY WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS THAT CREATING A FIGHTING GAME REQUIRES FULL DEDICATION AND ATLEAST A YEAR OF YOUR LIFE IF YOU DONT WANT TO MAKE SOMETHING THATS COMPLETE SHIT.

You would need to think about hit and hurt boxes. Frame Data. You'd have to make NUMEROUS TEST BUILDS so you can tweak out everything perfectly. 3d fighting games like tekken and the like are just the worst to animate for because its just so many things to animate. You should stick to 2d style because its just easier to work around. You need to be careful about infinites and unblockables (More than likely a few of these are going to make it into the game on first release anyway) Then you have the whole working a champions kit into the fighting game which makes it even more complicated.

You might have to dumb it down a bit.

Id suggest Voli bears super to be either a command grab where he lighting claws you then bites you. OR his super can be an install (steroid) where he gains lighting claws and he deals more damage and more chip damage.

Syndra can have a sort of keep away game with summong spheres and repositioning them. While Orianna can function like standard "Puppet" archetypes. (Carl Clover is a good example)

Zed can have his shadows that set up at predetermined distances. That can mirror his button presses.

There should probably a pushblock feature too.

Anyway. You'd have to take LARGE LIBERTIES in translating league champs into fighting game characters because they are very different genres. So don't expect shen dash to force the enemy to attack. It would probably just be a spacing or mix up tool tbh. Much like Yang's teleport.
