Can someone explain exactly how Chain Lightning works?

I'm just a little confused about this Component. It hits 3 boxes in front of you (Diagonal left, front, and Diagonal right), then it says if it kills a minion, it hits diagonally 1 space from it on one more minion. If this hits a minion, does it chain to another minion diagonally from it? Does this keep happening until there aren't any targets left?

Then what about levelling it up. If you level it up, does it just increase the range of the diagonal blocks when it kills a minion?

The way I understood it was first, you hit a target in one of 3 spaces in front of your mech. Then, chain lightning strikes a target that is positioned diagonally from the initial target. It keeps going until there is no longer a target that is diagonal from the previous target, or you have hit the maximum amount of targets allowed for the level of the ability. So, level one chain lightning can strike up to 4 correctly positioned targets.

Edit: To answer your second question, leveling it up would increase the amount of targets it can spread to by 2 (if I remember correctly and level 2 states 5 targets). So level 2 chain lightning could strike up to 6 targets.
