Could you make a online version?

I'm sure this will take a lot of coding and time but almost all of the people I play league with don't live anywhere near me. Game looks awesome but no one to play it with :/ I wouldn't care if the price was like $20 more just an online version would be awesome. I know it'll probably never happen considering the time that went into the game itself but just my thoughts

They did have that surprisingly entertaining Blitzcrank game for smartphones, but pulled it for no reason of course.

100% Agree. I'd love an online version. It'd be much more easier to just invite your friends online rather than invite them to your house / go to theirs and set up a board.

Yeah there's no way this is ever happening. Even if they got working right now that would probably not happen for years. You'll have to find some new friends to play with I suppose.

If they do decide to work on a online version it probably wouldn't take as long since a lot of the time was probably spent developing how the game would work.

yes, i dont think it will take more than a year to develp this. all the gameplay stuff are already there, they just need to make it work. even i can program this myslef if i wanted to, but it will be a very low quality program. Riot can make it much more polished and i hope it will happen one day.

Three things came to mind when I saw this question...

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of Riot making a table top game? (Or at least wait until it's been out a while)

I thought the point of table tops was "getting together with friends offline" to game. You know, so you can "use your imagination". A slight nod to D&D.

Aren't you essentially just asking for another game mode and/or map on League?

I know it won't feel or play like a "traditional" mode but it preeeeeetty much would just be one.

Get the game. Invite your offline friends to play. TADAA! A whole new set of friends (that live near you) to play LoL online with! YAY!

Seriously though, I understand what you're getting at. I started off in the same spot when I started playing League (only had one friend who played it much less heard of it). Who knows, you might single handedly be the founder of a LoL group/team/whatever in you hometown summoner 30

If I had the ability to I would play it with people IRL but none of my friends are into league hence why this post was made. And making an online version of a board game doesn't defeat the purpose of tabletop games for most people. Yes some people like to sit down and gather round a table with their friends and lay back, but majority of people just like the game and would like to play it with their friends.

They game is league themed, but you need to know nothing about it to play the game. The game stands tall as its own thing and just so happens to be blessed enough to have such rich lore and artwork to pull from.

If your friends LIKE board games, they will enjoy the game.

i would parallel this game to Hearthstone. if Riot could make this game like that, where you can download (even buy for all that matters) a digital version of the game, queue up with several people online, and play the game with them (will have chat, or even voice chat). they can add voice acting and all kinds of special effect to the abilities (something that cant really happen on a board game). i just think it will have a huge value as an online game just like Blizzard did with Hearthstone.

Took them 3 years of work to make this, so don't expect an online version any time soon (if ever). :B

it took 3 years of development because they had to invent the whole game from scrach, and that takes time. now that the whole game is already finied, all Riot has to do is make it digital. imagine if Blizzard made Hearthstone as an actual card game, where you can buy cards in real life and play with friends. and afterwards they decided to make a digital version of the game, and that would be the Hearthstone we know today. same thing. they just need to code the game and build the game, and compared to a full game development, it shouldnt take long. if they really wanted to, i bet they could make a polished digital version in less than a year.

Okay looks like someone asked your question on the main thread, they basically have no plans for a digital version at the moment:

We don't have any digital plans right now, but since the game is co-operative and there is no hidden information between players, you could conceivably set up a video call using Skype or hangouts or something and play together. We've done that here to play with other Riot offices.

While very few things in programming are as simple as "just" doing it, I do have faith that Riot, being a video game company, has the required experience and talent to make it a video game if they so chose.

The thing is Heartstones would of been an awesome card game like Magic and so on but this version of League of Legends will appeal to a niche of table top fans which I think is a great idea. I watched YouTube videos with full games and I am really hyped.

i didnt get to see a FULL game, only a short playthrough, but i also checked many youtube reviews and i also really want to play this game, and if it will ship to my country i might actually buy it. but i also think that making an online version of the game could also add alot more to the gameplay, like OST, Voiceover, visual effects of all the cards and animations for the mechs and minions and the map tiles and all of that. just imagining how it might look like makes me a bit hyped. so i do hope they will think make an online version one day.

Now #1 I could never see this happening personally, because if there was an online version this would make the physical version irrelevant. (Just take a look at what happened with Cards Against Humanity, everyone loved the game but the physical version is rarely bought anymore)

But honestly, no matter what I think, I bet a group of fans will eventually make an online version in the future. But in the end, I would love to see that happen.

Riot should hire a studio to make this game like stainless games(creator of many mtg video game) or konami. I do not think that Riot games has the technology to make this game.

On the second quote, you realize that cards against humanity was free from the start, and its so popular they literally sold bull feces in a box, then the next year offered absolutely NOTHING, no game, no bull feces, and still sold 11,200 copies of nothing right?
