Thoughts on this?

I'm a bit scared of it, since his ultimate is already easy to counter with a well placed vision ward or oracle elixir.

Why must his opponents be even more rewarded for taking out his ultimate?

I think this will just further encourage players to rush vision wards and oracle if Teemo just get a bit ahead, penalizing him even more (especially with the AP build).

Can anyone from Riot balance team explain the reasoning behind this change, because in my opinion this small change is an unneeded Teemo nerf (his ultimate got nerfed enough already).

Teemo is already hated enough and very binary. Don't make people hate him even more for feeding additional gold to the enemy team (especially when having a bad game).

This doesn't really hurt teemo, but rather reward players for trying to control shroom overflow. Look at i this way:

Player spends 125 on vision ward that gives vision and allows him to kill any shrooms placed. Teemo can no longer safely place shrooms in that area without chancing them being killed as well. -This means (if you don't constantly place shrooms in that area after it has been pinked) the opponent will kill like 1, 2 shrooms tops gaining him 20g. That 20 gold was already spent on buying that vision ward (as opposed to a sight ward) in the first place. The only thing this changes is it lessens the burden of clearing shrooms (spending extra resources merely to remove an invisible hi-damage/slowing trap). Gaining 20 gold per vision ward isn't going to set teemo that far behind, thats basically 1 cs.

Teemo's hated because of him being so annoying, which is a reasonable thing to hate for (I mean seriously, it's irritating that he appears cute, but he's such a bitch). Anyway, people spend gold to kill his shrooms. I think it's reasonable to get some gold back.

Teemo is hard to counter ( my opinion ) because if he goes attack speed he will burst you down and run to safty without you having the chance to cc him because he is always ou of your ability range. This here just encourages Teemo's to actually use their shrooms in a useful way ( -> wards , slow, etc. ) and not damage. In my opinion it actually buffed teemo, because now more people will build the obviously better attack speed build.

The thing is that you should be rushing visions and oracles against a Teemo anyways, to prevent hitting any of his shrooms when running away at low health or trying to sneak somewhere. Also, rushing them makes it easier to take them out and takes away the vision they give without having to actually hit them. Not a lot of people will actually do this, so I think giving gold reward is nice. It'll make people want to do it, instead of having to and saying "the support can do that, I need my gold for my full build."
