Actually it does. It hit her resets. That is huge. She relies on them to do anything against a half decent team. OFC she is going to wreck a bronze team that feeds her and doesn't focus her properly.

This change has almost 0 effect on most good kat players. You do realize this change was to increase the skill difference between a good kat and a bad one right? You almost can't tell the difference between a good one and a bad one atm is the issue.

Do you not understand how small 3s is? In a team fight that is nothing. A team fight can last up to 15s. If she is denied any damage for the majority of the fight then she will never get her resets. Now her resets don't go off even after the end of an average team fight. They already gutted her early game ult. Take away any more from it and Kata won't be useful.

The thing is you don't seem to understand that she relies on her ult for damage. She doesn't have the greatest scalings on her abilities for single target damage. Sure she can pop a bunch of people but that's only if she gets Q and W and ult on them all for AoE damage and if they are that close together and none of them tried to blow her up, she deserves the kills.

If they are going to hit anywhere they need to remove the damage reduction on shunpo when used on an ally as it is already an escape it doesn't need more utility.

To be fair, Kat got a balanced nerf in a very good way, where those two got very heavy handed nerf that really crippled them. I would much rather have all nerfs be like the Kat nerf rather than like Kass or Veigar.

Thank you for saying this. The Katarina nerf makes a lot of sense and isn't too harsh. Kat is one of those champs who wrecks solo queue even though she isn't actually overpowered. It just takes a lot of coordination and understanding of Kat's mechanics to play against her, so the counterplay is kinda hard in that setting. (Observe the almost complete lack of pros playing Katarina.) Given how dominant she is in solo queue, though, I'm happy to see a small nerf that forces her to do a little work to get resets (like she was supposed to in the first place).

Kat is easily countered in Champ select. You just have to play one of those "unviable" champs. I REALLY like her change.

Kat was played a good bit in the LCS in season 3. Dyrus would take her top and build a weird off tank, bruiser version of her.

Who do you mean by an "unviable" champ? Isn't it mostly just about playing around her abilities, not clumping up too much, chaining CC, using exhaust correctly, and so forth?

I didn't actually start paying attention to the pro scene until late 2014, so I'm not surprised that she saw some play historically. A champion doesn't have to be much worse than the other options to not see play, and it's also amazing how long a champion can go not being played before they suddenly become fashionable.

I have to agree. From the perspective of Azir/Kass/Veigar mains who just had their champions effectively removed from the game overnight (rip Shurima, again), the Kat nerf looks like more of a minor inconvenience to Kat players. It's not like they nerfed every aspect of Kat that made Kat Kat, like they did with these three champs.

Erm she lost way over 50% of the uptime on her passive. Her passive used to proc up to 20s later. Now its only 3s.

There is a much bigger window for counter play now. If you live for 3s after she damages you she won't get the reset. Meaning GA actually can counter her now.

That's because Kat's nerfs weren't intended to hurt good Kat players.

A good Kat built straight damage and played to straight up murder one of your teammates.

A bad Kat did silly things like build tank, splash some damage around, then run out and let her teammates wail on the enemy until one of them got a kill so she could go back in again.

The changes basically just said "build damage and aim for a kill (or accidental assist if any ally happens to get the last-hit) or die" which is what good Kat players were already doing anyway.

Nerfs aren't supposed to cripple champions into unplayability, they're supposed to weaken them to reasonable levels. Kat's nerf was made to scrape off some free/unnecessary power from her passive and did that job well without making the champion unplayable or anything. Kassadin/azir nerfs failed because riot took off a massive chunk of power at once rather than balancing through smaller tweaks.

This nerf was aimed at passive Katarina players who sit in the back and throw Q's then proceed to stomp because they are getting assists.

Aggressive Katarina players should see no difference in this change.

Talked to a Katarina main and they just laughed at the "nerf".

Kat focuses down squishy and low hp targets... which means she is DEFINITELY going to kill them within 3 seconds, and will still get those broken resets.

Yet I'm a Quinn main who uses Valor to do the same thing, and I don't see Valor getting cooldown resets for kills...

Ok, the "NERF" just cuts down basically on the number of "assist" resets she can get, but in most of the games I play with a Kat (statisticly backed up by her 51% or greater win-rate across multiple categories), she gets fed no matter what and SHE DOES ALL THE KILLING! OTHER PEOPLE get assist on HER KILLS, not the other way around.

So a "less resets on assist nerf" is bullshit, she does all the killing.

Veigar currently has a 30% win rate in plat. Just gonna let that sink in. He does however have a 60% win rate vs katarina if it makes anyone feel better.
