Champions that Need Fixing Up

Let's be honest, some of LoL's Champions are archaic in design and therefore generally gameplay toxic.

I'd like to begin by sharing some Champions I think promote excellent balance/design/polish/gameplay:

Diana, Heimerdinger 2.0, Karma 2.0, Nami, Nautilus, Orianna, Sivir 2.0, Syndra, Trundle 2.0, & Ziggs.

  • I feel that each & every one of these Champions listed has appropriate balance/scaling, fluid gameplay, & solid counterplay.

On to the Culprits

These are Champions I consider to be problematic to League in their current iteration, their designs either outdated or downright poor:

Annie, Caitlyn, Evelynn, Fiddlesticks, Jax, LeBlanc, & Twisted Fate.

  • Now bear with me... each of these Champions may not be 'holistically' poor in design... it may be a single ability (e.g. TF Ultimate) or mechanic (e.g. Fear).

Let's Break 'em Down

  1. Annie - centered around 100-0 bursting you in a matter of seconds, with a punishing defense-mechanic to apply if you try to survive & return damage.
  2. Caitlyn - 650 range ADC with periodic hard-burst and a ridiculously far-reaching escape mechanic with a 50% slow caked on.
  3. Evelynn - insane burst, mobility, and requires vision wards to successfully avoid her ganks (I perceive her becoming a god in season iv).
  4. Fiddlesticks - long-range, 3 second targetable fear-mechanic which may randomly walk you into the enemy team... and should his Ultimate really possess an 800 range Flash?
  5. Jax - long-range, 6 second cd leap with a stun, incredibly innate tankiness, and hybrid damage.
  6. LeBlanc - one kill equals hyper carrying, train stomping, blinking 100-0 burst mage of death.
  7. Twisted Fate - archaic Ultimate enables free trade-wins... too little counter-play.

Annie- The stun she has is really a killer. If she hits the stun on the first spell you're dead in seconds.

Jax- I can't stand that leap. I believe if he lands it, it can slow enemies near where he lands for 2 seconds or so. A stun is a killer especially when in chase. Just how I see it.

Fiddle- I think one of his fear ability makes up his bread and butter. Maybe shorten the distance of his abilities, but his drain becomes useless without the fear in my opinion.

Fiddlesticks fear is really op so riot should make his fear a bit shorter or lessen his damage during his fear

We'll I find cait can be shut down easily. Bronze players just find her hard to deal with. Evelynn I don't find is that good either. I find her ganks are really easy to avoid. Jax is a very good champ right now I understand that. Annie has good burst but I don't find is that hard to beat in lane. Leblanc is also very bursty, But if you waste her combo or have a gap closer your pretty good. Tf's ult is good, but they nerfed his w and his passive so that kinda evens things out. I understand where your coming at but I don't find all of these are right.

Annie - 0 mobility or tankiness. Relies on having her passive up. Relies on hitting a good ultimate in team fights which is very hard with no mobility.

Caitlyn - Her e is by no means "far reaching", ezreal has an instant blink of the same range, tristana has a jump double the range. Her high range is not unique. No idea what you mean by periodic high burst. Late game if you spend time to use spells instead of aaing then you do less damage overall.

Eve - her burst is far form insane, no matter how fed you are you will not one shot anyone. She has OK burst and then has consistent damage. Her mobility is not that great because, it's just a ms bonus, she cannoot escape over walls, it's very hard to dodge well placed skillshots compared to other mobility spells that are way better.

Fiddle - he relies on having a strong cc because without it his kit doesn't work, he has no mobility this 80% of champions will escape from his ult and drain without taking even half of the damage.

Jax- he is a hyper carry, he only works when he scales, like anyone else he can be shut down. He isn't even as good of a hyper carry as vayne or trynd. Pre 6 he is very weak.

Leblanc can one shot people true, that is if they don't have resistances or a barrier or another shield. But in team fights if she does not blow someone up she is pretty useless. She relies on her ult for good damage. And one kill with LB doesn't mean a lost game, she is far from a hyper carry and her scaling late game is sub par.

Twisted fate - too little counter play? All you need to do is ward properly, you can follow him when he goes to TP and you chunk him down. TF relies on his stun to do damage, there is a tun of things you can do to prevent it. TF has mediocre damage, he only has 2 spells, he relies on doing well early and ganking other lanes, if you prevent that his damage is very low, his range is very low and his high range spell is super easy to dodge.

Freezeman spot on except for Jax. Even pre-6 it's quite easy to bully in lane and kill your opponent without help, I would not say he's a hyper carry at all. He's pretty much a beast to deal with 1v1 from beginning to end unless you have a legit counter. I don't feel jax is that big of a problem since he is very 1v1 centric. RIVEN on the other hand has all the same threat Jax does but can deal her damage out to several opponents at the same time. Biggest difference is by endgame Jax fills more of a tank/split pusher role while Riven remains a damage oriented offtank at best.

Annie - Tons of mid lanes have the same thing, especially Ryze and Brand. Her being able to do that makes up for the fact her ultimate isn't that good.

Caitlyn - Agree about her escape mechanics, makes it hard to catch her with the net and beartraps,

Evelynn - Agree again, she is a very strong jungler, but she is an assassin so thats the only way she can do good.

Fiddlesticks - Disagree, he isnt even that long range. His fear lasts very long yes, but his ultimate needs to have the range because fiddlesticks can die faster than any champion on his team. If his ultimate were any shorter in range he would get burster down immediately. Plus, it is very noticeable when Fiddle is about to ult since you see him prepare it for 2 or 3 seconds.

Jax - Agreed, he is too strong. His hybrid damage is also very strong. Strong late game and early game. Needs a nerf.

Leblanc - It is very hard to play her (believe me I've tried), but she is still good at bursting and escaping. Needs some kind of nerf to lessen her burst damage.

TwistedFate - Disagree, his ultimate isn't even that good anymore after some nerfs.
