Veigar's mana costs

Okay, so I've never been a fan of this style of social media, but after reading IronStylus's defense of it, I have decided to give it a try and see if anything can come of it.

I have been a fan of veigar for quite a while, he's been incredibly fun to play. But his mana costs really seem out of line compared to a lot of the newer champs recently. A great place to start is his ult.

Over the past few months I've noticed riot has been reducing the cost of a lot of the older champions's ults to be more in line with the newer champs. However veigar's ult is still 125/175/225 mana. Doesn't 225 mana seem a little too much for the current state of the game?

Also, another thing that has been bothering me is veigar's passive. Don't get me wrong, on paper it's a really great passive. But I've noticed that I still have to buy a chalice just to have enough mana to stay in lane sometimes. Isn't it odd that for a champ with a built in chalice needs to buy a chalice just to keep up with the other champs that build chalice? I understand that getting tear is also a favored choice of many veigar players, but dispite having a chalice passive veigar still runs oom very quickly if he is regularly stacking his q. And a simple full combo drains over half of his mana pool early game.

Is there any thing that can be done to address these issues? or am I merely blowing things out of proportion? I love playing veig, but I feel that due to his high mana costs and passive laning phase there are just too many better choices atm.

well I don't play viegar at all, but wouldn't it seem fair that he has huge burst potential and an annoying CC so the spell costs kind of make sense? Although I haven't given viegar a try at all so I don't know how bad it really may be. Might give him a whirl.

As for the ult I expect it to be lowered like all the other champ ults that have been reduced lately. Just have to wait till Riot decides to do it

That's understandable. I never said that the costs of his basic spells needed lowering. (they are high, but it makes sense for how strong they are) the main problem for mana cost was purely his ult.

Veigar will probably be reworked for the same reason Xerath was. Huge burst + strong stun. It doesn't matter that he's balanced/under-powered.

His high mana cost are a big reason why his huge damage isn't overpowered.

I watched bjerson's stream and he made a comment at how suprised he was at the mana cost for his ult is but, even though he didn't get any mana items he didn't seem to have much mana trouble, I think it's because of his passive and seemingly high mana pool.

his passive works like a chalice if u have at least 1 mana item, u should have enough to cast the ult...more or less...
