[DEBATE] Would Nerfing Randuin's Omen Destroy this meta?

Hey all, I'm kind of a rookie, but I do have some reasons for this.

First off: item 3143 is built on pretty much EVERYONE. It is a staple item to deal with anyone who is AD, especially basic attackers. 3000 cost may seem like a lot, but it really doesn't look like a ton. It gets 70 armor (15-25% damage loss(?) on physical attackers) and 500 health. It basically can turn most champions into a tank, and make them anti AD.

Am I correct or wrong?

From what I can tell, every tank gets item 3143 . From what I can tell, early game this item alone makes anyone without a item 3071 or item 3035 do almost no damage, then they proceed to get full damage. Because of this, it appears they can't be killed and hurt like hell. Even some diamond players who stream and make youtube videos(sp4zie for example) would get this item as tankiness on someone like Pantheon and proceed to do tons of damage.

Is this good or bad?

Finally, is this affected by certain champions who have received play in recent LCS matches? Renekton and LeeSin have been played a lot in LCS, and because of this even in silver matches I run into a ton of LeeSin .

Are these champions influencing the meta at all?

Finally, is there any other items that have a similar effect? item 3102 is the closest I can think of, but that is for MR, and it doesn't give nearly as much.

I'm not very professional with this, but this is a debate. What are your thoughts on the state on this item? Is it in the right spot or in the wrong? Should all AD champions be forced to rush % armor pen because of this item? Why or why not?

I would like honest and actual opinions. Some perspective and logic behind every statement, not just "you're wrong because you're in silver, you can't talk" or anything like that. Give information to back it up.

item 3068 is the closest imo, as it grants armor( much less, but still), and health.

I personally think it is not op, rather the other tank items like item 3065item 3102

It is a staple for armor because of its high armor value, and decent hp value. For many fighters, it provides a valuable slow, and good slot value. if you are fitting one defensive item in a build, it is the perfect item.

Randuin's problem is one that has to do with it having both high values for its resistance and its HP, as well as possessing the single strongest utility effect (AoE CC whose duration scales on tankiness). With that, it is like tailor-made for champions who only need those two stats (manaless champions) and who need to compensate for one of their supposed weaknesses (again, manaless champions, who are supposed to have less AoE lockdown CC).

I am of the opinion that Randuin's could use a change, like one or more of these:

  • Replace item 1011 with item 1028 and item 1029 :
Adjusting the stats accordingly. This would make it stronger in its intended niche (anti-physical), but weaker as a general-purpose item. Would still leave the problem with the strong utility for manaless users.
  • Replace item 1011 with item 3010 :
Makes manaless users sacrifice a bit of gold-efficiency on a stat not useful for them, as well as weakening its general effectiveness. Would probably require the creation of another Armor/HP item (or changes in an existing one, like item 3056 ?)
  • Increase cost:
Brute-force solution. Simply making it less attractive to buy (although I am not sure this would solve much.

On top of that, Riot should go and have a look at pure HP items, and possibly give those a touch-up, too.
