Can we please introduce more item variety?

For marksmen, they have pretty much anything that has AD or attack speed available to them. A key item typically is item 3031 , though.

Mages typically are forced into stagnant builds that rely on the most gold efficient AP item being purchased first (for example, item 3165 ) and then any artificial burst items they can get their hands on (item 3285 ,item 3146 , item 3100 , etc, varying on the champion) and then any item that has natural synergy with their kits (item 3151 on brand, item 3116 on some mages like cass and whatever azir is.) Oh, and they have to buy item 3135 at some point because of the eventual MR stack of every enemy. Also, item 3089 has become pretty much non existent because of the massive cost it takes to finish compared to things like Morello (for those who don't know, it has a total cost of 3,800 gold for the entire deathcap, compared to for example 2,900 gold on Morello.)

Assassins only have item 3147 item 3814 item 3142 truly dedicated to them. Otherwise, they have to dip into AD caster itemization.

Tanks have some variety, but typically evolve into "what gives the most resist and damage at the same time" (item 3068 , for example, maybe item 3748 )

And supports as far as I know are obligated to build some form of item 2049 , item 3107 , and pretty much any other cheap item with a good active because of their budgeting.

Can we push for more items? Give assassins for instance an actual set of choices designed for them instead of 3 + whatever caster item works, give mages 2 or 3 choices to first purchase instead of item 3165 first because it gives everything. (Example: Morello loses the cooldown reduction and becomes just AP and mana, and they add in an item with high AP and cooldown reduction but no bonus mana. This would give them the choice of Morello for longer fights, ludens for more burst, and that third item for more rotations on their spells but easily running out of mana if they aren't careful.)

Also, a few more items for ranged vs melee champions? A ranged exclusive item that boosts attack range but reduces damage, or a melee exclusive item that causes you to take less damage from distance sources (500+ units away, to stick a number somewhere) and more damage from melee sources. The point of said item would be to specialize defenses more.

If anyone has even read this far, yes I'm not exactly a pro player (unranked, more of a casual player really). It would be nice to spice things up in ways other than just champion kits, though. Some of the new tank items do help with this (item 3194 and item 3001 are a step in the right direction.)

Downvote me if you want, I just wanted to get this off my head. It's a bit frustrating to only have one item to rush because it's too good to pass up compared to anything else.

I made a post awhile ago about Riot making a new item system. One that focuses on Melee Only (melee champion only items) Ranged Only (ranged champion only items) Neutral (anyone can use items) In a small sense this is already in the game with Hydra and Runann's, but a system that fully separates them would allow balancing of 1 class without screwing over the items for another because it would block 1 class from even being able to use them anyways.

I agree that there could be more variety, but why are you acting like these items item 3027 item 3152 item 3030 item 3157 item 3102 item 3003 don't exist?

Also, try to make suggestions about new items instead of just saying that there should be more options.

I mean Riot has been adding more items to the game. Items are really hard to balance, not to mention new effects to make them more than statsticks chosen only because they're most cost efficient, have a better buildpath or have better stats.

I mean there's only so many things you can make when the goal is literally to do the most damage, get CDR, and mana. There's only so far you can go before it becomes Morellos with less CDR but more AP, Morellos with less AP but more mana, Morellos with less mana and AP but also gives armor, Morellos without mana but gives health, etc.

I want more active items across the board. Stat sticks are boring and require no thought or actual gameplay, I want a little more strategy to be possible. Obviously not counting supports, they have 50 active items.

I honestly feel like itemization is so limited due to how fast games end. Stacking items, as well as, expensive tank items are harder to buy right now, since damage is scaling/snowballing too fast. No one really has the time to farm up the gold for these items, so they're thrown into a 'limited viability' [for lack of a better phrase/word] when compared to the more gold-efficient damage items.

Examples:

ADC - item 3031 costs 3400g, while item 3072 costs 3700g. Even for players who are more passive than aggressive, Infinity Edge is still the better rush because of the cost difference, as well as the battle stat difference. (crit chance+crit damage > ad + lifesteal)

Mages - item 3165 costs 2900g, while item 3003 costs 3100g. Given that the Archangel's Staff requires time to stack up, Morello is easily the better rush. (ap + mana + Cdr + Gw + Mana refund > scaling ap + small mana refund)

I'm not a high-ranking player, (only Silver III), so this information is purely my opinion. However, I strongly believe this game has become more for players who enjoy high damage numbers in a quick/instant fashion, and less for players who enjoy biding their time, planning and slowly/safely, but surely, scaling into the game.

Some casters buy item 3030 item 3152 item 3027 item 3285 . It can also depend on your matchup for example if im ori and im against a fizz that got 2 kills on me oh boy you know im rushing item 3102 already fuck everyone that item is gonna save my ass. (except for the part where he lands the shark from point blank yet somehow one shots me seriously fuck fizz nerf him plz stop buffing ap fizz)

There's more variety than there needs to be. Hard enough to balance the game around the sh*t ton of items that already exists.

Item diversity, one of the many things Riot was aiming to do since, the season 2, and never managed to do it right, along side jungle and mastery diversity.

I mean they just had that assassin update and added some stuff and changed some stuff. They added some stuff and changed some stuff in the tank update.

A few items a year and a bunch of reworked items seems to be the pace they're working at. I don't know what more could be asked of them. You cant just drop 10 new items into the fold one day, it'd be a nightmare balance wise.

I think iirc, Riot stated they were at some point going to make Deathcap's Combine/Total Cost easier to handle.

Though I will agree, especially with something like Void staff, which imo should get the Last Whisper Treatment. (split it into 2 items)

Doesn't riot actually hate item variety? They removed all the aura items, they removed other items like leviathan, they remove regen items, they removed potions like vision, and they removed pink ward....PINK WARD!?

They easily could have just kept those items in game and added more. Hell they could have added invis reveal counter play with an item that negated it but had worse stats.
