As a returning event, PROJECT: Outsiders was such a huge letdown.
Events like PROJECT: Outsiders only damages Riot's reputation in the eyes of the Community.
Project: Pyke who was priced at 1820, doesn't even fit the requirements to be a legendary skin. If the balance team's going to be tarnished, I hope the skin team doesn't follow in its steps. Pyke got blood moon last year, he didn't need a new skin, and certainly not a Legendary one. Irelia got Divine Sword last year, she didn't need a prestige and a project skin. Akali got KDA which was a huge success, she didn't need a skin this year. Jinx got Odyssey last year, she didn't need a skin this year.
As someone who loves Jinx, and mains champions who have an unnecessary amount of skins, admittedly I was excited for Project: Jinx since it was something I never thought would happen. However, not only was the result such a disappointment, Jinx never needed another skin.
Not only was this a low-effort money grab, it was just a simple disappointment to the community. I love Jinx but she got Odyssey, she doesn't need a new skin. Why are you wasting your time on making skins like these? I feel terrible for the people who were hyped for these returning events, since I joined League last year, PROJECT was such a cool skin line to me.
So many champions could do this concept justice and we know that you can make them cool, just why are you not trying to, and just making money grabs? Don't even get me started on Prestige. Prestige was one of the biggest mistakes Riot has ever made. Riot's a company, and Riot needs to make money. Of course you can't please everybody, and from a marketing perspective there are times necessary to make money-grabs, and Riot isn't perfect. But this isn't excusable, because I'm sure we've all noticed that this money-grab trend has been continuing for some time now. Making skins for less popular champions will of course decrease Riot sales for that particular skin, so it's something that the skin team must take into consideration. However, having one event for champions which have not received skins for years won't hurt your company more. Making money-grab skins increase your revenue, but you're paying for that with the Community's respect. Is it really worth it?
Eventually, I feel the community is going to crash and burn over this, and I strongly believe that sometimes, others' respect for you as a company might be more important than what you're getting in terms of money, especially when you've made money-grab skins for quite a while now. I'm sure NOT ONLY will skins made for less popular champion receive a positive response from their mains, it will show that you listen to the Community. Sincerely hope that Riot sees the bigger picture.
