Opinion: Sometimes we think we are better than we actually are

I'm sure we've all seen the Bronze and Iron compilations by Solo Feed. Obviously, I don't know how high elo you peeps who are reading this post, but I would say that most of us wouldn't be making the same mistakes as the people in the compilations would. But still, when I play, sometimes I would see so and so person make a mistake and depending on how big/what the mistake is, my reaction internally will be something similar to WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING. However, if you look over your own VODs in some games, occasionally, you do some dumb shit mistakes too. Obviously the frequency of such mistakes or how terrible these mistakes are depends on your elo, but i think looking in your own perspective at others' play can sometimes be warped. Obviously this doesn't apply to circumstances such as bad matchmaking (a whole elo separated or boosted people), trolling, inting and MMR, but normal games.

This could be just me, but have you ever made a play and immediately thought afterwards: "why did I do that, that was some dumb shit" ? And you know if you saw someone make a similar mistake, you would probably mental boom or facepalm hard. I recognize that I am probably a lot worse than most people on the boards, but I feel such mentality can apply to higher elos as well, not just low elos.

BTW, this is in no way any flame to anybody, and i'm not saying to completely put the blame on yourself either, because I don't think that's a healthy mindset either. I just encourage people to think from another perspective and sometimes do self-reflection when time/situations call for it, because it was something that did help my playing experience in the current state of league.

But seriously, after a lost fight, look what you could have done better instead of blaming others. Even if someone else is the main reason that fight was lost, see what you could do to win regardless of bad teammates. That's how you climb.

Eh, I consider myself an average player. Not wood division, not diamond+. I do save replays and look at them. I don't really cringe at my gameplay. Its just "yeah, kinda expected". I do waste flash sometimes trying to hit recall...(not often, I swear), which I know people like to add in these compilations. I might want to consider moving recall to another button... I don't really judge too much watching others play. I mostly judge myself. I play mostly careful and not go for huge plays. I guess I could say to myself to just go crazy once in awhile.

Lol if you knew the times I've thrown games by doing dumb shit. When I play I'm either 10/0 or 0/10 lol

I'm aware of how good I am and for the most part, I'm a terrible player. Having an average CS of 100 at 20 minutes or even lower like this game for example: (look at the timer and my CS score) http://prikachi.com/images/360/9706360q.png Where I played like an actual Iron player. I'm aware I shouldn't be focusing on kills, rather objectives, but sometimes I can't stop myself from doing that.

Once in diamond elo i played with cait that has no idea how to place her W but flamed us all for being useless , fun fact she was diamond 4 .... D4 people are of the worst kind. On this account im testing stuff, i see a lot of plat players and when they see gold player be like: ugh i have to play woth gold in my team gg wp open mid go next.... In fact they have double my games and lower winrate lol so yeah... When people get higher rank they think they are next faker but they dont see how low they play the only high thing is their ego... As i said the true elo hell is plat 1 / diamond 4

I am not that good, and I can be pretty inconsistent. It depends on who I'm playing against because my elo. I can perform insanely well sometimes and my most consistent champ is Swain/pyke Support. I have a mid 60% wr on Swain over 60+ games and around the same on Pyke. I like support but sometimes I just can't perform as well as I could or the games go sideways before I can do anything about it. My Overall WR is 49% but the champs I enjoy have much much higher winrates. Its really ruined my MMR ever since I made this account. Not much I can do about it but I have been becoming a lot better at the game. The higher I climb though the more toxic the players become which is unfun.

Of course we all make mistakes. Granted, I've never really seen one of my own and been like "why did I do that?", but I've seen my own plays and said, "yeah, should not have tried to help that."

A lot of the mistakes I get annoyed at is when you can literally see we are out numbered and my teammates are surprised we lose that. Like, you have a ward and see the jungler sneak into bot lane brush, and then my ADC is surprised that the jungler is in the bush we just saw him walk into. Or when my ADC is 0/5 and tries to 1v1 the 5/0 enemy ADC. Like, you know this isn't going to go well, why even fight?

Analyzing yourself after games though will help you way more than critiquing your teammates. You are the only player in all of your games, so if you focus on improving yourself, you'll eventually climb. That and learn why you facepalm at those plays, because identifying why it's a bad play (besides that they died) will help you way more than just saying "wow that player sucks". Obviously if your entire team isn't playing well, you'll still probably lose those games, but you'll do better in the games when you are playing well.

Everybody makes mistakes, of course.

Damnit Sven...

But a player's rank is defined by if they learned or not. I'll tell ya, if I had a dollar for every time I see a player overextend their lane without wards over and over again, id be rich. Low elo players do not learn from their mistakes. Once they learn, they will climb.

the moment you think youre good, is the moment you stop getting elo, because you are content with your overall performance, so you stop getting better, the result is getting hard stuck in a division. went from bronze to gold with this philosophy and it works, I am still bad btw
