I'm actually kind of glad up/down votes are gone

I personally think it's great considering a lot of good posts just disappear and get flooded down to the bottom where no one will read them anymore because a lot of people just go and downvote a lot of posts. With the person who bot spammed downvotes in posts, it is better now because all posts have equal chance of being read now rather than before where if a group of people dislike a post, it never gets the chance to surface to others because if you get about 5-10 downvotes early, it won't ever go up in votes because no one will see the post anyway. I think the board posts should be kept like this with no up or down votes.

I also prefer the boards without votes. Not for the same reason, since I sort by "New", so neither the botting nor this change really affect me.

Voting was originally implemented as a tool to promote good discussion topics and demoting bad discussion topics. However, it quickly became a way to say "I agree/disagree" without adding to the discussion in any way. If you made a well structured posts about a controversial topic you were likely to receive a bunch of downvotes but barely any constructive discussion would come from it. Now, if you openly want to agree or disagree with something, you at least have to say something relevant to the post.

Perhaps, instead of votes, a similar system could be implemented that rates posts by the amount of comments they receive. It's certainly not a perfect solution, but a lot safer against botting (since you could clearly identify the users) and should do the job of promoting posts that are worthy of discussion.

Yeah, i'm enjoying this board being Gameplay 2.0 where a bunch of EUW posters bitch about nerfs and I see nothing else, really great change.

there were people that were bot downvoting im pretty sure but it was really consistent to see threads with replies from specific people that would get exact number of downvotes

which is x for doubt to be collective disagreement posts would still get downvoted to oblivion but at least these people can't influence whole threads now
