Why I'm Done with League
Back when they changed the jungle, I was already in a pretty poor mood about league. The game snowballs so hard and it just doesn't matter at all if you get slightly ahead of your laner. If you get 15cs up and are like wow yes edging out small advantages, it PALES in comparison to how useless others may be on your team. The game is NOT about getting small advantages and winning fights with them, it is about how many people on your team are 0-5 and literally cannot contribute anymore. That was me just as much as my teammates, I'm not blaming "poor matchmaking" or teammates or whatever. It's just a result of how the game is right now. Sometimes you get dove twice and literally cannot farm against your laner anymore. Sometimes you lose a dual at scuttle and are 2 levels behind the entire game.
All in all I'm just not having fun anymore and while obviously my quitting makes no difference to the game or riots income I just wanted to vent about it before I left. MAYBE someone does actually read this and it makes a difference, because I do love league, just not like this. I abandoned a game and got a low priority punishment. I uninstalled and took a break. I came back to the new jungle patch, lost a dual at scuttle at lv2, rage quit and was punished again. This time I think I uninstalled for good, unless I see some serious changes in design philosophy from riot being put into the game.
> That's a Lot of Damage
One of the biggest reasons for snowballing and dying OVER and OVER again once you've died once is that damage is out of control. Watch qt:
He got a double kill from the opponents rakan support failing an all in. The fight lasts only a couple of seconds, he kills the enemy adc in five auto attacks as draven. Once he had that, he said "well, they're fucked." For the remainder of laning, the enemy duo can't even walk up to kill minions. Every time they try, qt steps forward and they have to back off. The one time they really try to farm, qt forces the fight and kills both of them again. Once you die in lane, unless your opponent makes a critical error, you can never fight or trade with them again. Against some aggressive champions, they will delete you if you try to farm even as a ranged champion.
Now don't get me wrong, I fucking hate dota. It's messy, cumbersome and cancerous even compared to league. However, one thing that I really think is better about dota is you can actually trade and farm at low levels. Picture how much damage a Lv2 Talon w+q+auto proc passive does. Or how much a Riven stun+aa+full q with autos does. It does like 70%-95% of a level 1/2/3 champions life in one rotation. If you were 85% hp and they have ignite, you're actually dead. In dota, autos and low level abilities do very little damage compared to league. You can walk up and smack each other a couple times to fight over farm, and then heal it up and do it again. These trades get you maybe an hp advantage, mana advantage, cs/deny advantage or whatever. But generally, if you walk up and hit each other just a handful of times at lv1 or lv2 you don't just have to go all in and either win or fucking die. And even if you do die, it seems like in general if someone has just 1 kill on you, they don't just instantly force you away from the wave or trading. Sure they are ahead, but not like how league feels. In league, it feels like at 5 minutes and you died, the game is over. They might just take your tower after you died for the first time, and that makes for statistically ~30% chance to win the game. After one/two deaths and first tower, you could realistically forfeit and just try again if it was possible to ff at like 7-12 minutes.
> How Many People are Useless?
Later in the same video, qt shows the scoreboard and talks about the Elise and Jax on his team.
https://youtu.be/cDZTks1adjY?t=551
Even though he stomped lane, Jax and Elise are doing even worse than the enemy bot lane. The enemy bot lane gave up their tower and roamed around, picking up some kills and farm elsewhere. The Jax got dove repeatedly, and the video doesn't really show why the Elise is so behind. What more important, qt's lead as a CARRY or 2 people being USELESS? Everyone knows the answer is the useless people matter way more, and they actually lost this game. Perhaps if the enemy bot lane stayed useless as well, it would have cancelled out and qt could have won. But they didn't and got back into it, meaning the useless other laners matter SO MUCH MORE than qt's gold lead.
> Snowbally to the Point of Adding an Earlier Forfeit Option
Now when I say the player is useless, I don't mean they are some braindead monkey. It's totally possible they are statistically the best player in the match. But everyone slips up, or dies to good plays from the enemy team (ganks, baits ect). People get so behind that there is NO coming back. If you try to farm with the wave in the middle of the lane, your laner will trade with you or outright kill you. If you play far back and have the wave crash in, you will just get dove by the jungler or a roam.
This is how far back Gosu needs to play to simply NOT DIE instantly. Note he is at the SAME LEVEL as qt, but since qt has a BF sword, he can't even get in range to auto minions anymore. It's not some "slight advantage" to get a BF when the enemy has like some daggers. The lane has already snowballed so far out of control that he almost needs to be in the fog of war away from the minion wave.
Riot made kicking someone when they are down is such an effective way to win, because now you also get first tower bonus gold and effectively delete a player from the game. This is why in qt's game, Gosu and his supp just left the lane. They knew there is absolutely no way to farm or defend the tower just 7 minutes into the game and made the right call to just peace it. Since they would have just died in a dive trying to defend their tower.
> CHANGE AFTER CHANGE AFTER CHANGE
Every month or so, everything flips upside down. Again when I look at Dota's patch notes, the vast majority of the BALANCE tweaks are small stat changes. There is no "oh the jungle is totally different and so is the AP jungle item but so are all the crit items and ADC base stats have fun." It makes it such a pain to just play in the way I enjoy because half the time it becomes terrible (ap junglers) and half the time it becomes broken
. Man I love playing graves, but now that he's broken he is just banned every game. Or, the enemy first picks them when I have 2nd pick. Hey lets look on the patch notes and see if I'm allowed to play him again NOPE some useless nerf that won't matter and no scuttle changes. Instead, lets rework Taliyah for no reason to kinda become a jungler because no reason.
Maybe change the game into a place that's consistently great, then make balance TWEAKS from there, and I will come back. Instead of just flipping the meta of every champion and every role half the time you patch. I hope you do.
