Question for Laners & Junglers
Let's just preface this by saying, I don't have a rank. I by no means think I'm the best thing since sliced bread. I watch a few of pro-players vids on youtube, and I enjoy them. I don't sit there and try to figure out precisely what they did wrong with this, or that, or whatever. I just have a question.
As a jungle main trying to understand why the hell I would gank for losing lanes, what PRECISELY, does a laner want from me once they start losing the lane?
We're not talkin', "Oh you died once, you suck, no ganks for you." I watch the minimap like a hawk, I am constantly looking at each lane to see how people play, what's going on, etc. etc. But if I see you die 2 or 3 times to lets say, a jungle gank, and you don't ward up, and every time I look at your lane there aren't wards (I made a habit of glancing at each lane once or twice every 15-30 seconds), what exactly do you want from me?
Or, lets say, you die once cause an unfortunate thing happened during whatever play you were making. No big deal. I'll swing by when I see a chance. But instead of waiting, you make an engage, and die. It's a bigger challenge for me to gank because now you're even weaker, we might not even get the kill or make room for you to farm safely for a little. But let's say during this you die. Again. Because you make an engage. Even though you're down 15-30 farm and 2 kills. Now I really don't think I should gank, cause first off, you're not playing passively even though you're behind, you're much much weaker than your opponent, and I don't really think you know what you're doing. So now again I ask, what precisely do you want me to do?
Even better still. Let's say, neither of you have died. It's been going well, you're getting CS, trading well, etc. etc. But you shove the wave so that the enemy has to constantly CS under tower, which may force them to lose CS. That seems okay to me. But then you want me to dive? While they're at full health? I dunno pal, that's hella risky. Especially depending on whether or not I'm playing an assassin or a tank. If I'm a tank? That's a maybe, it depends on how the wave is set up. If I'm an assassin? That's leaning more heavily towards a no. Especially if both of us are really squishy early. If you go in anyway and get killed, I dunno what you want me to do there. I'm not feelin' the risk of a dive. If we make enough mistakes, we'll both die, and that's gonna screw your lane so hard, and I don't like that risk.
So what should I do? I guess the easy answer is, "Just gank you dumba**." But honestly, I'm looking for ganks that will blow summoners, get kills, provide windows of threat free farm, etc. etc. Especially in this season where boat loads of games are decided within 10 minutes. It doesn't seem smart to gank for a lane, for a person, who's already lost or doesn't know what they're doing. I'd rather focus a different lane to shunt the pressure towards them so whoever is losing gets more farm time to be relevant.
Just trying to find out what I should do better. Cause honestly, I'm tired of at the end of games where I can't really gank for people cause the risk vs. reward doesn't weigh in our favor, so I end up farming and warding objs looking for enemy mistakes to capitalize on, but we still lose in the end, and people go, "gg jg doesn't gank fckin sucks" While I do direct this more towards laners, I know I'm not challenger, I'm not the best jungler NA, I know I have things I can improve on, and I work to improve them. I'd just like to get more of a second opinion, cause only having one point of view is hella skewed.
