Crazily overloaded kits and abilities recycled from other champions (but new and improved) seems to be where it's at now.

Maybe they've just run out of ideas?

riot just didnt want people being absolute idiots and playing tank pyke he was perfectly fine before they added more damage to his ult and making most things scale on lethality

Pyke has poor waveclear and relatively low damage for an assassin. Even when fed, his full combo can't 100-0 somebody; he needs his team to help him out. The goal in lane is to get a health advantage over the enemy carry. Pyke cannot heal, cannot shield, or do anything to help his carry get out of danger. He sets up kills, and that's it. If your carry has more health than the enemy carry, they can't win trades or go in when Pyke sets something up. That's how you beat him.

Everything he does is a skillshot, meaning the Pyke player not only has to be good, but you are given the opportunity to juke and dodge his stuff. Invest in boots early so you can sidestep his hook and E, and keep moving unpredictably to make it hard for him to catch you out. Keep minions between you and Pyke at all times, and ward the side brushes to make it harder for him to regen close to the action. Since he's melee, he can't really punish you for going for CS like a Sona or Janna would without putting himself in danger, so if you can pressure the enemy botlane, you can get a pretty big CS and/or health advantage.

Early game is where Pyke is the weakest. His regen is low, and his cooldowns are hella long. If you can avoid his skillshots, you have big windows where you can bully his carry. If you have the waveclear advantage, Pyke can't help with that. He can't really help his carry shove the lane out, so if you push them under tower, you can get free harass off and Pyke can't do anything about it with all your minions in the way.

Pyke is incredibly squishy. He does great against sustained damage if he can get out of a fight, but since he cannot build health and must build Lethality items for scaling, he is relatively easy to burst down. When he goes in, lock him down with CC and kill him before he can start getting resets.

Just press R to win basically His ult, especially the reset is my only real issue with him His passive healing can be annoying as well

i agree pyke is like the successor of Thresh with a built in righteous glory. Thresh really isn't too great, maybe make his Q faster so it's harder to dodge.
