Hearing that Riot is killing the boards... has actually upset me more than I thought it would.

The boards has been a major part of league of legends. Like it or not. Even amidst all the anger posts and occasional raging posts and toxicity, there was a community of players that used the boards to share their feelings with other players. Making a single post and seeing it blow up in comments and hitting the top of the page in the HOT section, seeing the different reactions of people who agreed and disagreed.

I do not see the reasoning behind it. Why? Why not just leave it alone? Just let the players and the community continue to talk to each other about our feelings about champions, builds and plays.

This is my thinking:

  1. The boards objectively need a lot of back-end work to function well.
  2. That work never happened.
  3. Riot is making several new games, which would need places here to discuss them.
  4. That will increase visibility and server load.
  5. Due to points #1 and #3, a lot would need to be invested to make it work.
  6. Most player input and most player communities are elsewhere.

That leaves Riot facing the decision to pump a lot of money into redoing a space that isn't used by a large number of players in the hopes that it MIGHT turn out well, which isn't a great business decision, ultimately.

i never thought they would ever think to permanently close the boards :( we have 1 week left here lets make it count.
