Does every PC game have to be attached to fucking online store now?

First there was just Steam which was sort of fine at first, but now you have to have Uplay, Origins, and now the Epic Games Store. I bet Bethesda will will make one next since they're pretty much going in that direction with mods and creation kit anyways. I miss the days when you just buy the disk or or online key and could just click it from your desktop. I hate having to fucking download the extra crapware stores, memorize more logins just to be able to play one friggin game.

Online stores serve as DRM, digital delivery, and off-site backup.

They provide too many useful services both to players and companies to go away. The problem is that everyone wants to make their own because they think that Steam's cut is high enough that it would be cheaper to do all these things themselves.

And since their motivation is cutting costs, they do a terrible job, and that's why GFWL, Uplay, Epic, etc, are all terrible.

I'm like 99% sure they do have one, as for why, because they don't want to share their money and just want to cut out the middle man. If they haves the means to, why should they have to split their profits.
