"Prestige" skins would make more sense if they were tied to Mastery points of champions

To be honest the naming of "prestige" is very misleading especially now since prestige points for the yearly ones are only found in bundles and are not even earn able at the moment. there is nothing "prestige" about this current setup.

I was fine with the buying of a season pass and then doing missions to WORK for that skin to make it known that i Worked for it (as well as giving a little support to riot for the work done on the skin so the little bit for the pass was worth it to me) But now its way to much for essentially a chroma.

I'd honestly feel much better if somehow these prestige skins though were tied to Mastery ranking of Champions .... you know kinda like how most prestige systems work, and id be willing still have to pay a little bit to "Unlock" it as long as its not going for More than ultimate skins. This in turn also gives Value to mastery ranking a champion.

Anyways just my 2 cents, anything is better than what you currently have going for the prestige K/DA Ahri and Blood moon Aatrox

but then riot wouldn't get as much $$$$$ from them

It's more about offering expensive skins for those willing to $$$ for rarity, than rewarding dedicated play.

Do that to a Yasuo skin and they should have enough money for about a year.

I think they are going for "Limited edition" as the term for their prestige skins.

From my understanding, not that I agree 100% with it, is that it's for the people who would have spent the money on chests anyways. It's kind of like, here is a bonus to what you would have already spent.

For instance me, I'm lucky enough to have disposable income to spend how I please because of how I've work to get a job I have now. So these prestige skins are a reward to me because I spend money on chests anyways.

Now the problem with that is:

  1. It alienates others and makes them feel like they are missing out on things.
  2. It incentives people who have a gambling problem, or addicted to gaming, and takes advantage of their problem for their own profit. (Devil's advocate is that these people should seek help and it would almost be impossible to point the finger at Riot to say that it's their problem, even if they know that's probably happening)

It's hard to make everyone happy, they could alleviate this by making seasonal events that you can earn 25 PP if you complete every quest in that season so by the time the year ends, you'll have 100 PP to whatever prestige skin you want. Both sides can be happy, the ones who want to get it faster can, and the ones who want to earn it spent a year to get it for free.

Riot giving dedicated players something actually cool instead of a worthless emote more tied to Yasuo Mains BM than anything else?

That would imply they care about our time invested in our favorite champions and they're not gonna do that. [sg-soraka]

This. Other than this, I've honestly had no problem with the concept of them. If Riot wants some shiny shiny things for people with big wallets to flex with, that's their business. However, the only problem I ever had with them was the fact that the whole golden prestige thematic would fit better with mastery stuff, but whatever Ig lol.

golden skins for mastery would be a disappointing reward. I'd rather get nothing.

Autrah Fang3/21/2019, 8:25:34 PM1 votes

I mean, people have been saying there should be more rewards to the mastery system outside of just a mastery emote (ala SMITE gold skins for instance)... And at one point Riot said they wanted to implement rewards tied to the mastery system... Prestige skins from mastery would definitely do that. Too bad it'll never happen [zombie-nunu-tears]

As would chromas

PaffWasTaken3/22/2019, 12:33:10 AM1 votes

I remember initially when they teased the mastery system and declared it would give mains consequent rewards for their champion along the mastery emote.

Fast forward almost 4 years, the only expansion we ever got for this is 2 more mastery level, while we initially thought pre-release those would already be infinite...

IT made the most sense buying the season pass and getting it through points b/c you HAD to play a lot to get it. It showed you worked for it and was a nice reward for it, not to mention more people are more likely to buy a season pass than they would to try and buy over 100$ worth of content to get a mediocre skin.

Its exactly as people know and state it to be, a cash grab.

That doesn't bring in the easy whale money though

and Tencent is all about getting that easy cash

Colonel J3/22/2019, 8:28:53 AM1 votes

No it wouldn't.

I feel they should give them out for 1 million mastery points to that champions best skin. but that would be a ton of work for every champion

Kroy Khasis3/23/2019, 2:05:53 AM1 votes

Just rename "Prestige Skins" to "Cetacean Chromas" and be done with it.

at least give us something for having a lot of gameplay on the champion other than a stupid emote.. it's kinda dumb that you play and work hard on a champion, only to get something stupid that can be turned off by the enemy team.
